I do remember AI embarrassed Yao at several games. At the price of Ariza, JJ and a pick, I say go get him.

There will be a lot of teams after Jefferson. The Bulls and Nyets can dangle a lot of cap relief. The Mavericks have the magic Dampier contract and Caron Butler. It's not like the Rockets will be the only team in the bidding.

atleast if we got Jefferson, he could no longer be the only center in the league that torches Yao on offense with frequency...they'd be on the same side..which would be a nightmare for opposing defenses because they both are physical scorers in the post. Having AB and KMart on the outside for them to dish out to would be deadly.

I would be a little worried about defense but Hill/Hayes/PatPat/Jeffries and hopefully a Brad Miller type such as...well Brad Miller would fill in nicely.

I have been on this bandwagon for a good long time, even before the Bosh hoopla started. Best of the still available moves. Add in Brad Miller, and the Rockets are ready to tango.

I agree with this. Minny wants to get rid of him, but they have no reason to give him away. And frankly, they can take their sweet time waiting for the best deal.

The Bulls have no reason to get Al Jefferson now that they have Boozer and Noah. Unless they want to trade Noah for him... which isn't going to happen because they wouldn't even trade Noah for Bosh.

The Mavs would be an interesting place.. I doubt they would be willing to give up Caron Butler for him, though. While they could probably give up Dampier for Al, there would have to be more to it. Dallas' first round pick doesn't even touch the Knicks 1st round pick that the Rockets could offer (especially if LeBron picks anywhere but New York).

New Jersey could offer instant cap relief, so they would be the biggest threat, in my opinion.

Jersey would be a threat but it sounds like they want Lee, they are waiting to see what happens with the S&T madness.

I like him but as long as it is Battier+Jeffries or somthing.

Maybe throw in a pick, if Knicks get LBJ, it can be one of the Knicks picks.

There is absolutely no use for someone like Al. The power forwards on our rosters are so much better suited for what the Rockets are trying to do than Al would be.

It's been a long time since we've had as good of a power forward as Luis Scola to play next to the big fella, and it's a huge improvement over past seasons such as Eddie Griffin, Juwan Howard, Chuck Hayes, and Kelvin Cato. We have no reason to panic and try to trade for something that we really don't need, just because we didn't get the superstar that we wanted.

In other words, a big hell no to Al, please.

I posted in a previous thread (http://bbs.clutchfans.com/showpost.php?p=5419965&postcount=57) that I would certainly not let Scola walk to get Jefferson because Scola's net contribution is 8 points or more greater than Jefferson's and he plays better defense which is what we really need this season. Honestly, I think people are skewed by memories of that monster game Jefferson had hear a couple seasons ago. I know I am...

Anyway, since this the capital O-fficial thread for Jefferson discussions this is what I posted earlier...

First off, Scola's ORtg/DRtg last season was 108/107... which is right on par with Jefferson... not 111/101, like you said. And it makes perfect sense that it would be like that considering the guys around Scola last year.

Two years ago, the Rockets were a strong defensive team (when Yao was able to play). Scola was at 114/102 during that season. Then last season, without the big man to help him out, and when the team defense struggled, his O/D ratings dropped to 108/107.

When you consider that... it makes absolute perfect sense that Jefferson would be in the "mediocre" range. Especially considering the guys around him in his last "full healthy" season were at around 114 in DRtg, but Jefferson was at 108.

So do you think that Scola's DRtg would magically be helped by playing along side Yao, but Jefferson's wouldn't?
