This is why gutting your team for two max spaces is stupid

Assuming Bosh and Wade goes to Miami, and Lebron stays in Cleveland as expected, and Joe Johnson stays in Atlanta, what did all these teams saving up for 2 max guys end up?

Miami is by far the biggest winner, and even they have gained almost nothing. Bosh and Wade are great, but they're still not better than Orlando, Cleveland(with Lebron), and possibly Boston/Atlanta.

Chicago is left with I guess Boozer, which gives them Noah, Boozer, Rose, and maybe Mike Miller and some other guys?

NY has Amare and is now relegated to talking about the likes of Raymond Felton, perhaps Parker, and perhaps Monta Ellis.

Seriously, was it really worth it? Thankfully, Morey has built our team to the point where if we get some someone, then it's gravy. But if we don't, we're still competitive. At least we don't have to live and die at the whim of a couple of divas.

Agreed. Anything from here on out is an improvement to the Rockets. Not getting anyone will definitely NOT hurt this team.

Looking at the quality of FA this summer, yes, it is well worth the risk for all those teams. Fittingly enough, the teams that cleared all that cap space, were the ones with the best shots at getting those guys. You have to do what it takes to get better. Even if it means taking a big risk like this one. Those teams can still fill out their rosters with good role players.

    Disagree.

Wade, Lebron(assuming no funny stuff), JJ all resigned. Bosh changes address only because he was in NBA purgatory that is the Toronto Raptors. Amare changed address his own team didn't want him enough to give him what he wanted.

Morey said before FA that he anticipated less movement than all the rumors that had been flying around. And so far, that seems correct. And a note about Miami retaining Wade. They could've retained Wade regardless of capspace. So really, they gutted their team to get only Chris Bosh.

lol so are you saying that teams like MIA, NY, CHI or even NJ were not in the running for any big free agents? Wade was flipping between CHI and MIA, both teams who cleared major cap space, and ended up going back to MIA because they were able to lure another big FA, Chris Bosh. Without clearing all that cap space, they possibly lose out on Bosh, forcing Wade to sign with CHI. Amare could have signed with other teams, but he chose to go to another team that cleared out cap space, The Knicks. Also, all those teams got meetings with Lebron. So to say those teams that cleared all that cap space were not on the shortlist to get these players is utterly ridiculous.

did u not see wade take a team full of scrubs to the 5th seed, now that he has a running mate, a team with wade can compete with anybody. they would crush the hawks, your blinded by your hater shades.

About Bosh and Wade , how do we know they were flipping back and forth between teams, maybe they just wanted to add some thrill or excitement to the reality tv show they were planning to make?

Good decisions hinge on 3 variables:

    1. Potential return (how much benefit you gain if you achieve the target return)
    2. Odds of the potential return (how likely it is to achieve)
    3. Risk (how much you lose if you do NOT achieve)

Clearing space (discarding assets) for big FA signing is high on risk, high return but also low odds.

Morey's method, i.e. accumulating assets for a SnT has the same potential return, a little better odds (because most FA want SnT to give them the most guaranteed money), but LOW RISK.

Even if we don't get Bosh, we still have the assets in hand and can improve through alternative plans. What do NY and Miami have if they don't get what they set out to pursue? A gutted roster with no assets to trade. All they can do is sign lesser FAs with their huge cap spaces.
