ESPN3.com, son. Catch your full game replays anytime you like.

It got to 3-2 because Holland checked out of the game a couple of minutes too early.

Fluke??? LOL. He has done it many times. This year against PSV

    <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/TBg0FQ-eSkk&amp;hl=nl_NL&amp;fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/TBg0FQ-eSkk&amp;hl=nl_NL&amp;fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>

And he did it a couple of more times.

LOL, you really do not like The Netherlands do you. It’s ok, I like the envy. Finally we are going to the WC finals again. We were so unlucky the from 1994 onwards. It is unlike the Netherlands to do it playing this style, but I do not care our normal playing style didn't result in a WC cup. Let's hope this will.

Furthermore, they are the only team who won all their games, theit didn't lose to Serbia or Zwisterland.

It was clear that they were already in the finals with their head. It is unbelievable, they have been able to improve play when needed. Even during a game, when Uruguay scored 1-1, they were able to take the play up a notch and it resulted in the 3-1. The lacked of again in the last couple of minutes, It should have been 4-1 or 5-1 by then. That will not happen in the finals.

The second goal was difficult to tell. I’m not certain Van Persie was offside or onside. However he didn’t touch the ball. But if the ref would disallow it I would have been fine with it.

    Everybody want to play Germany,

    Good luck SJC.

You know you want Germany more. Imagine beating both Brazil and your rivals Germany in the WC, you'll be absolutely chuffed. Me personally, I want the dutch to play Spain so the Germans don't get a chance to win another wc.

Also, if the Dutch do win the tournament, one has to figure Wesley Sneijder gets World Player of the year right? Wins the treble with Inter and WC with Holland (if it happens) and is a central figure in all those tournament wins for club and country.

Good game I was rooting for the Netherlands!

In the second goal wasnt offside, because the player (Van Persie I think) didnt touched the ball.

If he was in an offsides position (arguable) then it was offsides because he influenced the play; the keeper could have committed to diving to his left fully if he hadn't thought Van Persie was going to redirect the shot.

I personally don't care either way (I think the Netherlands would have won anyways), I just think that's what the ruling should have been if he was in fact, offsides. It's a moot point regardless.

Glad you aren't one of those fans who expects their team to be a modern replica of successful teams from the past i.e. fans of Brazil who only want a "Samba" style team. If this team does win the World Cup they should get full credit for doing it a different way instead of trying to be the Total Football 2010 Edition.

I know you said it's moot point, but I think that's arguable. The keeper should've been ready, regardless. Opposing players cover the keeper's view all the time so he can't see where the ball is going until it's too late.

I don't think it's an offside at all if the player didn't touch the ball. Besides the ball wasn't even an intended pass to him. The correct call was made.

Won't happen with Germany in the finals though. Germany's gonna mow through the Netherlands.

I think Germany vs the Netherlands would be in favor of the Germans, heavily.

Spain vs the Netherlands would be more of an even match IMO.

I was saying it was a moot point because the game's over and the result won't change. For argument's sake though here is the ruling on offside calls (from FIFA):

    Offence
A player in an offside position is only penalised if, at the moment the ball
touches or is played by one of his team, he is, in the opinion of the referee,
    involved in active play by:
    • interfering with play or
    • interfering with an opponent or
    • gaining an advantage by being in that position

Van Persie standing in front of Muslera's line of sight probably qualifies there but I could see how that could be interpreted differently.

IF he was in an offside position, then I totally agree that he affected the play. I think the argument is simply whether he was off or not. Looked to me that he was even.

Doesn't matter though. Replays showed he was clearly level with the defender when the ball was kicked. It looked offside live, but if you watch the replay you'll see that the linesman got the call right anyhow.

So then why do we even argue anything that happened in the past? :( It won't change.

Nope I'm from Texas, living in London for the past year though. Also those rules were copied and pasted from FIFA's laws so whoever wrote those must have been British.

Fair enough though I was just giving my opinion and people chose to argue but whatever.

    Spain or Germany tonight?

Germany vs Spain is the biggest game of this World Cup, I expect this to be a classic, I hope they don't let me down.

I'll be cheering for Germany because of their style of play... the winner of this game will win the world cup, in my humble opinion.

In part of my dream last night, Germany slammed Spain. It felt so real that when I woke up this morning and saw the advertisements for the game I was quite surprised and relieved.

Here's hoping dreams don't always come true. Go Spain!!! (I need them to win for me to win my world cup pool)

I'm guessing 1-1. Germany wins on PKs.

It's too bad Muller's out I'd like to have seen the two teams matched up at completely full strength. Any ideas who they are replacing him with?
