I bumped this thread instead of starting a new one because I had a couple of questions that I couldn't easily locate.

I've got old computers and electronics to dispose of, but would like to "recycle" them, even though they're never going to be used again and likely just thrown away somewhere; I'd at least like the peace of mind of me not physically throwing stuff into the trash.

Anyway, seems like Best Buy is the best bet for getting rid of old computers (I donate monitors and keyboards to Goodwill or other charitbale organizations). I'm super paranoid about getting rid of CPUs and it's probably unreasonable.

I've got a few computers that I just don't need anymore and they're taking up space. I've wiped and removed the HDs, essentially leaving optical drives, memory, motherboard and other little parts.

I know I'm being completely illogical and I know that I should know better....but is there any other info that could be "recovered" without the HD?

Would anyone else recommend a place or way of disposing old computers that are just taking up space?

Hate to say but I will..

    SO WHAT!

Yes that statement will cause anger and hatred but what will 99% of the members on this board do about it? It's like World Hunger, Child prostitution, Child Labor, illegal immigrant usage. Everyone turns a blind eye to these topics but will say how sad it is when you see it televised or read on paper.

Do I wish it can just go away and never happen again? Hell yeah I do but the reality is the majority on this board will do nothing. :(

Maybe if Clutch can post that video on every thread ever made on here we might get some more members to actually act on it. But it's not going to stop you guys from buying electronics and what if you keep it in your garage? It's not going to stay there long (maybe 2-5 years max) then your gonna say (or the spouse) get that crap out here.

And that my friends is the Ugly Truth (Great Movie by the way)

I'd just like to point out that this thread is from 2008, in case anyone missed that.
