I just went to the state of Guanajuato in Mexico for a few days and I had a WONDERFUL time. Leon's shopping was unbelievable great bargains all around, and not just in leather items. Guanajuato was a fairy tale city. San Miguel honestly is a bit overrated to me but maybe that's because we went to Guanajuato the day before. Next time I'd like to see Morelia and Patzcuaro, maybe Zacatecas also. So many beautiful things to see in Mexico. It's really sad how the media portrays Mexico as a war zone, in the last month I went to Mexico City and now here and both times I felt very safe. Maybe if I was in Tijuana or Ciudad Juarez it would be different but the majority of Mexico is safe and the people are very kind and welcoming. It really makes me wonder why people criticize them so much when they come to the United States.
Lol Yea my mom was suppose to make a trip with my grandma to mexico just to drop her off and then come back. Nobody in the family wanted her to go cause of all the killings and what not. Anyways my mom ended up not going and my aunt took her and got back safely and said nothing was out of the ordinary.
Yeah mexico isnt as bad as people make it out to be, mostly just the bordertowns and other towns close to them. Been going to mexico city and zamora, michoacan all my life at least once a year and never felt like I was in danger.
I went about 4 years back, my family lives in La Laja Juanajuato. Pretty cool like you said. I'm not mesican but I have married in family down there, they're all the shiz and party like its 1999 everyday.
I'm curious for those of you that are familiar with Mexico, what it would be like to open a business in Cancun or Playa del Carmen. We would start the business and live down there for about two years to get it going. From what I've read there doesn't seem to be the threat of violence like there is in the border areas, but I would be concerned since we would have our children down there. My biggest concern would be safety for my family, but another concern is that I have no idea how easy or hard it would be for an American citizen to open up a new business down there or what obstacles that I may find that I wouldn't here in the USA.
I stayed at a Holiday Inn just after I switched my insurance to Geico. Yeah, maybe. It doesnt matter if its the Swedish Bikini Team x 50,000 entering the country illegally. If they come and take all the jobs, they're not going to be looked at too highly. Then when you hear of the Bikini Team committing widespread beheadings and dumping live bodies in wells, thats gonna be another stain. Its unfair to criminalize ALL the people, but what more can you do for negative attention.
