Thats how I see it. If LBJ really wanted to play with Amare, the Cavs would have pulled the trigger on that trade. I think NY signing him, signals the end of their LBJ chase.
I think Lebron probably realizes that Amare is too much of a spotlight hog and this probably significantly cuts down the Knicks' chances of signing him. If they ever had a chance in the first place.
I think it's just a half assed move for NY and doesn't really have that much effect on anything, Lebron, Bosh, draft picks ... nothing.
Well, they don't strike out as most people hoped. And for what its worth, I remember hearing that Amare would play in NY......but only if Lebron was coming. He might have changed his mind but it does give NY a little boost to sign Lebron.
Ehh you are assuming: 1. That Miami wanted him (probably, just not as much as some other FA's) 2. If Miami wanted him they would give him max money. (I am thinking no..) I do agree with you... the way the Knicks are currently constructed they will be lucky to win 30-35 games.... I think the Amare signing is actually a blessing in disguise for the Rockets
Why would he bad mouth a player to the press? Fact is Lebron didn't want to trade JJ Hickson for Amar'e so that says a lot. More than words.
If they made the trades they made last year, and cleared the cap space only to get Amare and maybe one other near max player.... I think it is a loss for the Knicks.... Amare is a nice all star capable player, but he needs players around him.
Done deal. http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_ylt=AukqxmXyqM3aOfw8bJ.jfmk5nYcB?slug=ys-stoudemireknicks070510
Great news for our picks - Dumping David Lee for Amare, and compounding that by giving Amare about $17-$18M of their cap space in place of Lee's $10M is sheer stupidity. They just became SIGNIFICANTLY worse on defense and in rebounding. LOL
Except JJ Hickson was playing so well and he and LBJ had great chemistry on the floor. The Cavs had a sick record when he was a starter. They just didn't want to break up the chemistry of that team considering they were the best team in the league.
We shall see. I doubt that the Knicks have renounced their rights to David Lee just yet (although I'm guessing that Al Harrington has had his Knicks' tenure officially ended as of today). They are going to keep Lee's $10.5M cap hold on their books as long as possible in order to keep a sign-and-trade avenue open. If Lebron doesn't come to New York, I think the Knicks may acquire their second "star" via a sign-and-trade involving Lee. So, while Amare is taking Lee's spot in the rotation, I think the Knicks may still have something else to show for David Lee when it's all said and done.
less durable, more expensive, worse on rebounding... don't forget about Lee's 3.6APG compared to Amare's 1.0APG. lee is able to find the open man out of a double team, amare is not. and you would think it would be easier to get an assist playing with the great offensive talent the suns have. while lee did very well at getting assists with almost no offensive talent. now lets hope they spend the rest of their cap on guys like mike miller and luke ridnaur.
Is there any way they can keep David Lee now? PG(Felton/Arenas/Ellis) Wilson Chandler Danilo Gallinari David Lee Amare Stoudamire Is a playoff team in the East. Or is David Lee a goner unless a sign and trade happens?
