I know I am a terrible person, but the fact that many teams cleared mondo cap space to pursue a few elite FAs and may strike out makes great schadenfreude time for me: Teams I am rooting against: 1. NY Knicks: Pretty much every Rocket fan is given that Rockets have their draft picks. 2. Miami Heat: Who Backstabs the Backstabber? Gordon Gecko getting what's coming to him = happy times! The whole "South Beach = Every FA wants to sign with us" smugness is annoying. (Team I am rooting for, other than the Rockets = Nets. Just because their owner is a giant Russian who needs to be in the news as much as possible for our entertainment.)
Jazz. Pro Nets for the fact that they could make the Knicks the Clippers of the East. Really, I don't want any team to do too good. Miami getting 2 guys is good as they still will be crap, and that's less available for everyone else. I don't want any of the FAs to stay with the same team (except Scola and Lowry of course). That's just boring. Plus, some of the teams they're leaving won't be able to sign a replacement.
NY - for vested interest Cle - because thier fans annoy me Mia - because thier fans annoy me Im pro Washington, NJ, Clips and Bulls.
Rooting against the favorites. Right now that's: 1. Chicago 2. Miami 3. New York You know one way or another New York will be spending all its money. They realize they don't own any of their picks and likely won't for the end of time the way they keep giving them away for apparent short term gains (No Knicks this isn't baseball, you can't Yankee your way through free agency and trades and expect to get by without developing young players), so you figure no matter what they'll be going into the next season with a full cap. My only hope is that that cap is filled with overrateds and also-rans. So far they're the favorites for Amare. Fits their philosophy of scoring 30 and giving up 40 a night, good for them. Now they need to go after a perimeter player they can pay 10M per year. I'm hoping that comes out of a group of Raymond Felton, Randy Foye, Mike Miller, and JJ Redick (won't be the first Dukie for the Knicks to severely overpay, see Duhon, Chris). And if nothing from that works out, heck T-Mac's out there, go pay him 8M for a one year deal because you KNOW he thinks that would be shortchanging him and he just needs another season to prove he's still a max level guy lol.
1. T-Wolves: They owe the Clippers a pick 2. Knicks: They owe the rockets a pick 3. Jazz: i hate them 4. Suns: i want to see both the rockets and clippers overtake them...
1.Heat: if lebron goes back to cle, and dwade goes to chicago, the odds of bosh coming here are the best. Keep key players out of Miami!! 2. Chicago: their also going for Bosh and if dwade stays in Miami Bosh might end up there with him or sign with chicago... 3. Knicks: the worse they are the better the picks, but it wont matter if we use these picks for leverage in a trade.
1. Knicks 2. Any Western conference teams I don't care which teams the marquee FAs land in the east (except the Knicks). A good shakeup over there is exciting either way.
I'd feel bad for Miami if Wade leaves them, which obviously means they didn't get Lebron or Bosh. They'd pretty much have to settle for Boozer but who would want to sign with a team that consists of Beasly, Chalmers, and no one else.
if you're a rocket fan, u have to have the knicks #1 on this list. rooting for the knicks is rooting against the rockets.
obviously the knicks for the draft picks. I want the Nets gets competitive again, it would be nice if Lebron goes with them.
