...is bad for both Bosh AND Houston? Remember the Carl Herrera's conspiracy theory thread? Because he made it in a joking kind of way, this fact got lost in the shuffle in a way. But basically,

Even if Bosh LOVES Houston, and is dying to sign here, there's no way he'd actually say it for now.

Morey has spoken of this in a recent interview, in that if Bosh wants to get the highest max while assuring the team he goes to doesn't give up an arm and a leg, then he needs leverage against the Raptors. In this case, the threat to leave Toronto without the S&T. Hence, regardless of how Bosh feels about Houston, there's no way he'd show it. Because he wants Toronto to feel like he can leave them hanging whenever he feels like it. And that he's actually doing Toronto a favor by giving them a S&T option.

Now, don't construe my statement as if I believe Bosh will sign here.
I don't. In fact, if I were to guess right now, I'd put our odds at 10%. But my point is this, what Bosh is doing right now is exactly what he should do, regardless of where he wishes to be. Even doubly so if he wishes to land in Houston, where we are at the mercy of Toronto for agreeing to a S&T.

There is nothing to gain through this approach. Toronto knows he is gonna want that sixth year only available through sign and trade. If he packages with Bron and Wade, he is the one not getting max money not the other two and would have to sign outright anyway. IF he was wanting to be in Houston, he would have already been here or had a more serious meeting with DM.

By spending a lot of time pointing out the advantages of the Rockets to other teams, he may convince himself that the Rockets are the best choice ;)

    We've got nothing to lose.

I'm pretty sure people want to make money... so does his agent... the best way is to use leverage. He's scaring people into offering his clients more money.

Still, Bosh has to make the choice himself in the end. Houston is the most logical place for winning, fame and MONEY. I still say he's not done meeting with people. He's going to be resting and partying this weekend with friends and family. Remember, it's July 4 weekend. I'm sure Monday or Tuesday, he'll meet with Houston and make a commitment.

I was thinking the same thing. That could be the reason why mory only targeted bosh and they brush him off to make it seem like they were not that really interested. Bosh then makes visits with the teams on his list hyping a team up to make seems that he might go there. Which creates more leverage in a sign n trade.
They probably plan it to be that way.

Also, I have a feeling Lebron is going to create a bidding war. Teams will cut their dreams of landing all three free agents and focus on Lebron. It's already happening between Chicago and the Cavs. That would eliminate one place already.

It works both ways. He's either using the other teams to get a deal done with the Rockets, or he's using the possibility of signing with Houston as a way to pressure other teams to do a sign-and-trade.

I think most people think the latter is what's going on.

Well certainly that means Toronto would rather deal with us, but I can't imagine it matters much to Bosh. And Bosh has to agree to any sign and trade.

Bosh gets to pick where he is traded to. Toronto has to make the best of that. That's the reality.

But are the other teams so far resisting doing a S&T for him?

It seems that way. Or they may be resisting giving up the assets that Toronto would want.

So do I. But that doesn't change the fact that regardless, we can't tell by his actions so far.

Basically, until Bosh signs on the dotted line or verbally commits, we don't know what he's planning. None of the stuff that leaked out really says anything important.

Wonder what assets these would be... Miami has only Chalmers, Beasley and maybe Joel Anthony. These and the upcoming 1st round picks. Not sure what they are resisting offering. Maybe they are holding out for the dream of the 3 Max Guy team.

Chicago has Taj Gibson, Rose, Noah and their picks. Toronto reported to want Noah and Chicago rightfully resist. I agree with Chicago, too, given that I think they'd be better off with Noah + another premier FA big (Amare, Boozer, Lee) than with Bosh and no Noah. I really think Noah is an attractive piece to other FAs (be it, James, Wade, or even Bosh himself, who doesn't want to play C).

If bosh wanted to be here it would have been done. I don't know what negotiation there would be?

The other team would probably end up like Miami. Bosh and nobody else because they would have to give up some major talent to S&T with the Raptors. Houston is one of the few teams that could do a S&T with the Raptors and still be left with a team for Bosh to play with and I think that was the point that Morey made to him. Some things that sound good in theory don't work out in a real world situation. Ask Obama.

The Toronto media seems to think that a deal with Houston would be the best outcome for the Raptors:

    http://thestar.blogs.com/raptors/2010/07/is-it-a-question-of-someone-blinking-first.html

Speaking of the Raptors, and I guess we better given that’s what we do around here, well, actually, there’s nothing to speak of.

A lot of sitting around Friday working the phones and gauging the wind, I’m told. Getting ready for whatever happens to happen and prepared to pounce immediately.

I will tell you this, though.

I imagine the news that Amare Stoudemire is leaning to New York (and I caution you, it’s not done until it’s done and these are “sourced” reports) had to be greeted with smiles at 20 Bay.

That would take the Houston Rockets out of the bidding for Stoudemire, allow them to go after Bosh even harder and if there’s a sign-and-trade already negotiated that includes Scola, Battier, maybe Trevor Ariza or another player or a pick, I think that’s about as good as it’ll get for the Raptors.

Now, I don’t know for 100 per cent certain that that’s the actual offer that’s on the table, it sure sounds good at this end.
