Let's say we cannot get the BIG NAME Player. [Bosh, Amare, etc]
Find some other lower level free agents spots etc.

    CURRENT ROSTER
    13 David Andersen C 6-11
    1 Trevor Ariza G 6-8
    31 Shane Battier F 6-8
    0 Aaron Brooks G 6-0
    10 Chase Budinger F-G 6-7
    33 Mike Harris F 6-6
    44 Chuck Hayes C-F 6-6
    27 Jordan Hil l F 6-10
    20 Jared Jeffries F 6-11
    30 Alexander Johnson F
    7 Kyle Lowry G 6-0
    12 Kevin Martin G 6-7
    4 Luis Scola F-C 6-9
    8 Jermaine Taylor G 6-4
    11 Yao Ming

    ----
C - Yao, Shaq, Chuck Hayes
PF - Scola, B Miller, Hill , PatP
    SF - Battier, Ariza, Budinger
SG - KMart, Brooks, Jermaine Taylor
    PG - Brooks, Lowry

    On the outside looking in
    20 Jared Jeffries F 6-11
    30 Alexander Johnson F
    33 Mike Harris F 6-6
    13 David Andersen C 6-11
    -----------

If we can get B Miller and Shaq for Vet Minimums
I would not be opposed to signing them.
If Shaq is out. . I guess we can plug him into Shaq's spot.

This team has Length. It has bulk in the middle.
We have the ability to score and to be above average defensively.

Why Shaq? Bulk, size, and yes. . maybe even some leadership and personality. 10~15 minutes a game should be sufficient. Yao getting about 30 - B Miller and Chuck can hold down 8 minutes a game at the C. I honestly think he could be a good influence on YAO to be more aggressive. While shaq is not what he was. . . .what centers are there out there? How many of them are going to 'abuse' shaq and yao? Maybe 3 and I cannot name them outside of Dwight.

Why B Miller - good shooter and good passer. Knows the offense. Can play spot minutes at the C. Again Defense is not his strong point. I think his offensive punch maybe enough to off set that. This is a Perimeter players league. Most scoring punch will come from the wings and Pg anyway.

I think this is a team that will do very well against the Lakers. [the team to beat] I worry about a lack of a 3 pt specialist. We would be about an average 3 pt shooting team. I think above average defensively.

While they are not 'glamourous' I think this squad could contend. Would surprise alot of the 'elites' in the west.

10 seconds on the clock. Team down by 2. their best player has the ball. do you seriously think if Yao and Shaq are guarding the basket that they will take it to the Rack?

    Rocket River
its the summer. . .people are suppose to hypothesize!

my lineup pretty much resembles yours. To this day, we're the only team in the western conference that can handle the lakers. Now replace artest's horrible shot selection with martin's smooth jumper

The only thing.. our press conferences after playoff victories may suffer.

I want David Lee. High-energy guy, great rebounder, great PNR player, good passer, overmatched defending centers but can definitely hold his own against PFs, and he covers the PNR well.

S&T with the Knicks. Give 'em back Hill and Jeffries and their picks (and someone else I guess, hah). Sign Lee to a 6-year, $100M deal starting at around $13M. Let Scola walk after next year. Better value than Bosh with potentially similar production.

    You end up with:

    Brooks/Lowry
    Martin/Bud/Taylor
    Ariza/Battier
    Lee/Scola/PPat
    Yao/Miller(?)/Chuck

When Yao sits, Miller can come in or DLee can move over to the 5 with Scola playing the 4. If Yao misses significant time, you have a guy who can score and rebound, and who's used to playing the 5.

    plug shaq in shaq's spot?

and bmiller at Pf is a horrible idea....you get one or the other, otherwise it's just getting in the way of developing patterson and Hill. We dont need a back up pf, it's our strongest spot next to pg.

I think if we do sign a backup center, it'll be one or the other; probably not both. Why sign Miller as the third string when you just signed Hayes? Why sign Hayes or Miller if they are only going to play 8 mins a game?

I like your idea but I think having Shaq AND B.Miller would be too much of a burden.

PG: Aaron Brooks | Kyle Lowry | Randy Foye
SG: Kevin Martin | Chase Budinger| Jermaine Taylor
SF: Trevor Ariza | Shane Battier | Jared Jeffries
PF: Luis Scola | Patrick Patterson | Chuck Hayes
C: Yao Ming | Jordan Hill | Brad Miller

If we don't get a big name such as Bosh...Sign Randy Foye and Brad Miller. Get rid of Andersen, Harris, and Johnson.

Sure thing. With Morey's PR stuff. We say SHAQ is DA main man while Yao will only play 25 minutes a game.

Makes me think why are we actually going after Bosh? Just make it from 52 to 58? ;) We gain someone, lose talent.

    battier for fernandez

    sign brad miller

    brooks/lowry
    martin/fernandez
    ariza/budinger
    scola/hill/jeffries
    yao/miller/hayes

that is a 60 win team right there. we are not weak iin any particual area. maybe defense, buut i think we can overcome that.

then call me crazy but i think we can trade patterson, jeffries, and a pick or two for something quite good.

or just add a certain player with the package above to uprade at a position
ex) brooks, patterson, jeffries, 1 ny pick for cp3
