For me, Bosh and any major free agent was always a "Pie in the sky" type of thing, I was hopeful but did not truly believe Morey would be able to pull it off.

I mean he is amazing, but that would be worthy of an annointing...Saint Morey......

And now, watching all the desperate teams overpaying for good but not great players, Max contracts for Gay & J. Johnson, and seeing the money tossed around for Pekovic, Amir Johnson, Gooden and others means that I seriously doubt we will be able to get any big named free agent.

Heck some of these teams are going to be very desperate, with lots of cash room and the talent cubbard barren.

It does make me a bit worried about what Scola and Lowry might cost with all this mad cash being tossed around like lettuce...

It is like a GM "been had money" concert out there.

So, what does everyone think might happen if we miss out on the big named Free Agents?

Do you guys think Morey will go after a young up and coming player like Anthony Randolph?

    Would he chase after Melo?

Will he stand pat, what would you do?

Personally, I would try to get Melo first if he would sign an extension. If not, then perhaps Randolph and maybe Al Jefferson, if none of that worked probably stand pat until the trade deadline in the middle of the season.

What would you guys do, and what do you actually EXPECT to happen.

I expect the team to come to camp pretty much as is, and hit the trade deadline as serious players.....

    In Morey we trust.

I'm happy with our roster now. If we don't get Bosh, I'm sure DM will get us someone who will make us a championship team. Having Yao back is a major major plus. We did good last year, with Yao we are a team to beat.

I agree that we will stand pat and wait until the trade deadline in february.

I'd go after a superstar like Bosh who will be underpaid thanks to the ceiling put into place with maximum salaries. I'd do so in a S&T. I would give up players/assets who wouldn't be essential in a championship run like Hill and Budinger.

I expect Morey is thinking the same thing and trying to execute the same plan.

Even we don't get Bosh, I still think our team is deep, and we can make something in the playoffs.

Of course he is going after him, but assuming Bosh does what the rumors are saying and is not really interested in Houston, what else would you do?

My expectations are something akin to a Ariza/Randolph swap...and when I've been drinking a SnT for a Boozer-level player.

I highly doubt we're getting a big fish. But the little fish often taste better anyways.

    Optimistically - Amar'e or Bosh

    Realistically - Al Jefferson/Rubio

I would go after Brad Miller, who wouldnt be too expensive. Would finally fill the need for a backup center.

Wait, haven't you been against the idea of Bosh this entire time?

First of all, I would like to see at least an upgrade on Scola's PF position. I love the Ice Cream Man offensively. BUT Scola can't defend big PFs. Great PFs can back him down any day of the year. That is not acceptable.

Next, we need to address the backup center issue. Brad Miller will probably help a lot.

Lastly, I would like to see our young players develop (Hill, Patterson)

It seems the owners of the teams is very important to those top free agents. They all like the owners who are willing to pay lux tax. I know many people here would say that Les would pay lux tax if we could land a top free agent player. But, I don't remember Les paid any lux tax during Yao-Tmac era. They were considered as superstars during that time. I think he didn't pay lux tax more than 10 years. I don't think those free agents have faith in him.

Keep on Bosh until the end, we don't really have a shot with Amare and Boozer and Lee are not worth it.

Perhaps there could come a point where Minnesota with all their newly minted big men later simply views Al Jefferson as a cumbersome contract with whom they would have to package another asset just to get a team to take him off their hands. I wouldn't go so far as to say Rubio, but that would definitely be the dream scenario.

I'm hoping they get jefferson before the spurs do. I like bosh and his tools, but the compensation, his price, and being a beta is a no go for me. I like adding guys who are on sorry teams for the hunger factor. I like randolph, but he is a rebuild type of player. Jefferson gives the rockets a guyt who draws a double and the backup center. Whoever gets him is going to have a hungry player with something to prove only making 12m vs 17m
