I just heard on the Radio that Dirk stiffed Donnie Nelson and the Mavericks.
I've been following this over the last few days. Per Randy Galloway in Dallas the events have unfolded like this.

    1. Donnie Nelson calls Dirk and tells him he is flying to Germany to meet with him at midnight at his home.

    2. While Donnie is at DFW waiting to board a plane on Tuesday Holgar (Dirks basketball mentor) calls Donnie and informs him that they are coming back to the states and will meet them at Dirks home in Dallas.

    3. Donnie shows up at DFW Airport the next day with a greeting party for Dirk only to find out when the plane arrived that Dirk was not on it.

    4. Dirk and Holgar stayed in New York to meet with New Jersey owner Mikhail Prokhorov and possibly New York GM Donnie Walsh

    5. Cuban is pissing his pants.

    I am finding this amusing!

Dirk Nowitzki to meet with Jason Kidd tonight, Mavs Friday
Dirk Nowitzki’s trip from Germany to Dallas will include a stopoff tonight in New York, where he is scheduled to have dinner with point guard Jason Kidd.

Nowitzki then will head to Dallas on Friday morning, at which time he will meet with Mavericks’ president Donnie Nelson and, if things go well, verbally agree to a new four-year contract. He wouldn’t be able to sign it until July 8, but he could announce his intentions as early as tomorrow.

It’s another good sign that he’s meeting with Kidd in New York. The two most certainly will talk about the free-agent landscape around the league, which is ever-changing.

It’s a safe bet that no high-tone free agent is going to seriously consider the Mavericks if Nowitzki is not involved. So getting him on board early in the process is critical.

Nelson, by the way, spent a long night and a good chunk of the early morning calling up a long laundry list of agents and gauging interest that their clients would have in joining the Mavericks. Their recruitment of free agents is going to be a process since they would have to orchestrate a sign-and-trade scenario to acquire anybody over the mid-level exception. The Mavericks are hoping to keep that exception to use on free agents down the line after the premier talent is gobbled up by other teams or by the Mavericks if they can work the sign-and-trade angle.

The Mavericks are also trying to retain Brendan Haywood, who has heard overtures from Miami, too.

Dirk has stiffed Donnie Nelson and the Dallas Mavericks and appears to be avoiding them. Reports were that when he opted out of his contract that it was just a formality for more years and money but that he was definitely staying with the Mavs.

However, Donnie Nelson and the Mavs have been put on hold by Dirk so he can shop his services else where, primarily in New York to the NJ Nets who is owned by the russian Mikhail Prokhorov.

Donnie Nelson was asked what plan B was in case Dirk left Dallas and Donnie Nelson said that there was no plan B only plan A and that was Dirk. Now it looks like Dallas could wind up with a big bag of nothing and a suck ass team full of over the hill talent that will not be good enough to even make the play-offs next season.

Dallas did diss his best friend Nash. Trust me, Cuban's in your face personality isn't a real turn on for most Europeans. Dirk is leaving unless Dallas forks overs a huge contract.

Wow, that's interesting, but I still think that he is staying in Dallas.

Best possible scenario would be Dirk going to the Nets. The Mavs would be lotto bound and it might entice another FA to join him in NJ rather than NY.

Lebron and Dirk on the Nets....that would be interesting.

Donnie is a different guy than Don. Donnie is less drunk. I used to mix em up all the time.

And they have Lopez, Harris, Williams, Lee. That could be quite a team in the east.
