Ronnie Brewer is 25, has a 40 inch vertical, a 3 to 1 assist to turnover ratio, and is one of the best defenders in the league. Memphis is truly idiotic. Take a look DM after we trade Ariza and Battier...
Or maybe the Grizz found out what a lot of teams have found out in the past. Jerry Sloan wings look a lot better in his offense than they actually are in reality.
Ronnie Brewer? Memphis failed to make him an offer before 12:00am which made him an UNrestricted FA. He's athletic, young, and seems like a great fit with us. Wouldn't have to give him much, probably MLE. OBVIOUSLY shouldn't be a big target, but i think he'd be a great addition. What do you guys think?
Ronnie Brewer looks like a little kid ! I think he can do a good job to stop any SG except Kobe.So he will a part of a team wanting to get the championship.
Brewer can play 1 to 3. It'll mean no minutes for Taylor but that versatility esp. on D would hopefully make it easier to salary dump Battier.
Do the Rockets have the MLE to offer this year? I don't know how it works. Do you get an MLE every year you are over the cap?
I'm a big fan of Brewer's game. If the Rox get Bosh and have to give up players at the 2/3 to get it done (obviously) then Brewer would be a great add to this team. Particularly if we give up Ariza.
Wouldn't he be even better as our backup 2 guard? He'd be fantastic running the break with our run & gun 2nd unit. Sure, we'd lack outside shooting, but we could just attack all day with him and Lowry in the backcourt. He'd spell KMart on tough defensive assignments, and can spot start for you if the notoriously fragile Martin misses a game or two (or fifteen).
Great defender. I'd rather have Foye as a backup SG as it gives the Rockets a third PG as well. I don't trust Brewer as an NBA point. I like Taylor's potential, but rather have production over potential. The backup 2 is the weaker than the backup 5 imho. Chuck Hayes, Scola (maybe), and Hill are all better at the backup 5 than Taylor has been as the backup 2 so far.
Considering that they still have his Bird rights and can offer him more money than any other team, I should say so! (Not extending a qualifying offer to him only made him unrestricted. It had no impact on his Bird rights.)
Trade away either Ariza or Battier and sign Brewer for cheaper, sounds like a Morey move alright... I wouldn't mind him on the cheap either, he always gave us fits.
