alanhahn Newsday confirms Mike Miller as first player Knicks will meet with tonight at 9:01 PT in L.A. Joe Johnson after. Both Arn Tellem clients Love to have Mike Miller on the Rox but as your first interview??? Those picks are going to be GOLD.
Chris_Broussard Knicks have secured a meeting with Amare Stoudemire Thursday morning in L.A. They'll meet with Joe Johnson, then Amare.
It's going to be funny watching all those guys turn down the Knicks. The big name players have no interest in the Knicks and the Knicks know it. Now they've turned to the likes of Amare and Joe Johnson, watch Joe Johnson resign with ATL and the Knicks panic move to Rudy Gay, if Memphis matches they'll have to move on again, they can offer Paul Pierce the max or overpay for someone like Ray Allen or Richard Jefferson.
How far can this Knicks team go. Is it good enough to be over .500? Chicago grabbed the 8th seed at 41-41. Toney Douglas Joe Johnson Danilo Galinari Amare Stoudamire Eddy Curry Bench of Wilson Chandler and filler. Zero defense. Zero depth. Can't attract veterans to sign for cheap in the hopes of winning a title. Not dynamic enough offensively to outscore opponents. JJ, if they get him, will have gotten paid. He didnt' like the boo birds in ATL. That's nothing compared by NYC. Amare will have gotten paid too. Doomed to be a lotto team that implodes under the pressure of NY and screaming of D'antoni. And this looks like their best case scenario.
WojYahooNBA Mike Miller is turning into hot property, league executives say. He can expect offers starting north of mid-level exception in 1st year
WojYahooNBA With way that Hawks are coming for Joe Johnson, that'll be over fast. Knicks are in real, real free agent trouble. Amar'e is lukewarm on NY.
that is the best case. a more realistic case would be that they decide johnson isn't worth 6 years at 10% raises and hope he accepts a 5 year offer with 8% raises. then johnson returns to atlanta, the only team crazy enough to give him the full max. the knicks are looking at re-signing lee (if he doesn't bolt) and adding young players like felton or brewer.
That's good enough for a playoff spot. D'antoni's offense with the that set of players is going to look decent in the regular season.
curry can't play starters minutes and they only have chandler on the bench. that team will be lucky to make the playoffs. doesn't matter anyway. latest rumors says amare is only luke warm to ny and johnson is going to take atlanta's crazy 6 year max offer. new york has to move on...
If NY gives him anything even close to the MLE, isn't that essentially admitting they won't get 2 maxes? Hmm...
I don't see it. The Bulls were the 8th seed last season. I don't see the Knicks taking the 8th seed from the Bulls. I don't think the Hawks drop out of the top 8 after losing JJ. Knicks have other rotation players, Andy Rautins and Landry Fields, are draft mistakes.
that's IF they lose him. right now they are in the drivers seat with a 6 year max contract that no other team will match. IF they lose him, they will lose the only guy on the team that can actually create for himself and others. their offense will crumble, and they will be reduced to a bottom dweller.
