We have the assets to do two sign and trades for maximum salary

.............if they want to come here.

If two max free agents, such as Lebron and Bosh really want to play with Yao, Martin, Brooks, Scola, etc., we have the assets to acquire both of them in sign and trade. What they will have to do is convince their respective teams that they are going to walk to the Knicks or Nets for nothing. We can offer each of Cleveland a lottery draft pick (Knicks 2011 and 2012 if they help us shut out the Knicks), we can offer them both a future first rounder, non-lottery protected, and we can offer them a combination of expirings and current roster talent. We will likely have to lose one of Brooks or Lowry along with Budinger and Hill. But we should be able to retain Scola fairly easily, unless of course someone wants to overpay him and then we can S&T him for either a trade exception or an expiring to use in the acquisition of our two primo free agents.

This is the total grand slam home run proposition that I wouldn't be surprised if Morey is going to make to Lebron and Bosh. A true world dynasty with Yao.

Who knows...but after all that...who would we even have left?

The attracting thing that the Rockets have that none of those others do is that the Rockets have possibly the deepest team in the NBA...just without a legit superstar (Unless Yao comes back 100%)

He doesn't hate the Rockets, he just sees that this team is already stacked at each position except center. He knows that with a decent center this team is in the contention picture. You know, even though his name is HPD, i agree.

Basically comes down to needing ~25.6 million in salary to send back along with cheap assets to get it done. Each package needs about 12.8 million in salary to make it work under the CBA assuming the max contract starts at 16 million.

So essentially you could make these feasable packages

    11.7m:
    Jeffries (6.8)
    Hayes (2.3)
    Hill (2.6m)
    Knick Pick

    10.3m:
    Ariza (6.3)
    Andersen (2.5)
    Patterson (1.5)
    Knick Pick

You still need some smaller filler cash to get it done without gutting your core group. Easily do-able but it would take some crafty moves to make it work. But it leaves you with a ridiculous team.

    Brooks / Lowry
    Martin /
    Battier / Budinger
    Scola /
    Yao /

+ take your pick of 2 max free agents

You would still have Yao, Martin, one of the point guards, plus the MLE to add another piece or two, not to mention using the LLE and vet minimum to add other bench talent. And you would likely have Scola to complete the big man trifecta with Yao and Bosh.

    add pieces like
    Brad Miller
    Randy Foye
    Joe Smith
    Joey Graham
    Travis Outlaw
    Jermaine O'neal
    Jerry Stackhouse
    Tony Battie
    Ike Diogu
    Eddie House
    Etan Thomas
    Matt Barnes
    Louis Admundson
    Travis Diener
    QRich
    Jamal Magloire

    etc. etc. etc.

and another pack of guys that are servicable that are going to be bought out and released.

I just heard sports writer Chris Mannix on the radio a while ago and he was specifically discussing the Bosh situation, saying that Bosh is adamant about getting that 6th year, which means a sign and trade. Mannix then went on to say that this brings Houston specifically as a strong candidate becasue of all the good assets we have. He also stated that Miami doesn't have that many attractive assets and that Pat Riley has been trying to push Michael Beasley on the league for a month now and Toronto is not going to like that compared to what Houston can offer.

As for getting two sign and trades...I guess there must be a reason Morey is mainly going after Bosh... First, Cleveland has been adamant that they will not sign and trade. Wade is likely staying in Miami and seems to be doing the heavy recruiting for his team. Phoenix is not likely to sign and trade with us. I hope Morey isn't thinking about giving Joe Johnson the max....but I think getting Johnson would only be to try to land Bosh, not just getting Johnson by himself. PLus, the Rockets would be better off trying to trade for Carmelo Anthony next year if the Nuggets get desperate and don't think Anthony will be coming back. The only other marquee free agent would be Pierce, but we'll see if Boston would even be open to a sign and trade or that Pierce would even consider Houston.

Yes, many teams have that, what they don´t have is players under contract after those deals, it is the same problem that teams with cap space have, what is the team after signing those 2 max guys???

Houston has the assets to S&T, making sure that after those deals, they still have an all-star in YAO, a great player in Martin, and quality young guys not to mention the addiction of 2 all-stars

Will they see the evidence??? Just wait and see....

None of the teams involved are going to take these players, Memphis-Laker
deals are not the league standard. They are going to want some value
other than cap relief. Thinking we would not have to give away Martin,
Scola, Battier, or one of the two points is a fantasy.

Like I said before, we are going after Joe Johnson and Bosh while keeping Martin, Brooks, Yao, Scola, and Lowry.

Morey's Plan A. Though I'd bet Lowry and Bud would be in those packages with Hayes & Patterson staying. But I don't think the sane among us would mind with two all-stars coming back.

Rockets will be in the same situation. As long as Rockets keeps Yao, they'd have ship out vertually all remaining talent to get 2 more max players.

Real max players have very high trade values. Think about this way, were you ready to trade Yao when he was healthy for just Cbud + Hill + expiring + a couple pickes?

Those garbage proposals mentioned by some clutch fans in various posts won't even work in fantasy basketball, let alone in real life.

Joe Johnson is two years older and way more expensive than Martin. Martin doesn't need the ball in his hands to score. Johnson does. We don't need Joe Johnson. Period. End of story.
