Does he seek return to elite status?

I'm sorry, I like the guy, but it had to be done. Hundreds of former stars in the NBA wish they could still play, but it's just too difficult to keep the physical edge you need to return. I mean, how many NBA players have even missed a whole year and come back? Grant Hill, Amare, Stockton, the list is short, it takes a special kind of person first off, but none of the players has ever returned to their previous level of play either. That's the main reason why people even expect nothing out of Yao this year. It's just not easy.

We dont really need him but it'd be tight if he came back, just for him I'd be happy, the fans would get excited, bring him back like we did to Stevie, sign him to a minimum, and he could be a legit backup.

Depending on who we trade to get that superstar FA, we might need Cat back on the bench. If not, him, Stevie and Moochie can create their own super duo in China.

That's not a condition to mess around with. When you hear of athletes who collapse and die suddenly, it is THIS CONDITION that is the cause.

    Stay retired Cat.

It's Mobley's option to play. He wants to play. The only blood is on his hands, and he played for a decade in the NBA with his condition. I'll leave it to him and is doctors on whether or not he should play.

I am 100% concerned about his health.

And honestly a 34 year old guy who has been out of the league for 2 years does not make the team better.

I am not sure about this. All he's saying that he wants to play the minutes of a rookie, veteran backup. 10-20 minutes

    Give those minutes to :

Cbud & Taylor.....we don't need Cat anymore, and if he won't look after his own health, teams should do it for him.

Sounds like the type of player (minimum salary) Miami will need if they sign Bosh, Wade, and James. That might as well go ahead and sign Francis and T-Mac also. Those are the only type of players they'll be able to get to fill out the rest of the roster.

    I agree. He's broke.

Mogul. LOL. Whats with these players and that word. A Mogul is Prokhorov. When a player creates a cheap company thats not being a mogul its being bored with alot of money.

Heart attack waiting to happen. Probably goes to lakers. They have no bench.Ironic to see tmac and mobley on the lakers huh? They were traded for each other.

How can you guys actually be serious about bringing him back? I loved the guy when he played for us, and Im still a big fan of his...I want him to be healthy and happy.

But, to think that he would positively contribute to our current team is off the wall. We have plenty of young guys that would benefit from playing time. The guy is past his prime with health issues and he's been out of the game for a while now. No sense in wasting a roster spot on him. I'd love to have him as part of the coaching staff or something along those lines though.

I still have a soft spot for Cat. If he wants to play I hope he gets to.

Gotta love the Cat. I would be very happy to see him sign a vet min with us, as long as he earns the minutes over C-Bud and Taylor. If not, then we have a great practice player, veteran leader teaching those young wings how to play the right way.

I dont c this happening though unless we unload at least one of Taylor/Bud/Battier/Ariza.

I agree with this. He wants to come back because he really, really, really loved playing ball.

I wouldn't blackball out of some paternalistic concern for his health. He's better informed about his risks than I am, and he wants to take them. If he died on the court, it wouldn't be his team's fault. If he can't do what he loves despite having the talent because of health concerns, that is the teams' fault.

With Yao healthy, and Martin and Scola and the rest, and maybe even a big acquisition -- if we caught fire, we could be contending next season. If we are contending, having some intelligent veterans at the end of the bench is a valuable thing. I don't see why we wouldn't be interested in checking Cat out.
