The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that Christian Cunningham, who would have turned 3 in December, died after being found floating in the backyard hot tub. Randall Cunningham is pastor of Remnant Ministries and performs baptisms in the hot tub at his home, the paper reports. He was not home at the time. According to the report, a woman at Cunningham's house was with several children when she found Christian at about 4:30 p.m. The woman pulled Christian out and began performing CPR until paramedics arrived, and he was taken to St. Rose Dominican Hospital, where he died. Cunningham went to UNLV and played 16 seasons in the NFL, making four Pro Bowls. He retired following the 2001 season.
not making excuses, but the article stated she was with several children. i'm assuming at least 4 or more kids. i have babysat just 2 kids and i know how hard it is to keep an eye out for both of them. it's possible she didn't let him out of her sight for more than a couple of minutes and didn't notice he walked off. 2 year olds can easily get themselves in and out of tubs.
Who said she was in the hot tub? Sound to me like nobody was in the hot tub except for the 2 year old. In all likelihood, he crawled in there himself while she was busy trying to wrangle the other kids.
...performs baptisms in the hot tub at his home _____ Somewhat strange blurb to include in the article. Very sad story.
OMG... that is so sad. I cannot even start to imagine losing a child. My prayers are with the family.
It sucks that you can lose a child just by taking your eyes off of one for a few seconds...but that is reality. I'm surprised the pool/hot tub isn't enclosed by a pool fence. I'm sure he could afford it. I wouldn't even think about having children and a pool without a pool fence. I guess if the hot tub is separate from the pool...then it needs a cover like was said earlier. This stuff happens all the time...but we only hear about it when it happens to a celeb. Very sad.
No ****. But not putting the cover on with kids - that's negligence. I mean, I feel terrible for them and all but a little bit of prudence is all it takes. I have a 2-1/2 yr old. My parents have a hot tub. I don't care if it's just for lunch, if we are going inside or away from it that thing gets covered.
My son is 1 1/2 and he gets into everything. Its very easy to lose sight of your kids. Thats why you lock everything up but its almost impossible to keep everything locked down. Sometimes I think its luck that I survived my childhood.
very sad, and let's be sure and remember that it is extra important that we have sympathy because randall cunningham is famous.
As a father of 2 very young kids, things like this are absolutely the worst nightmare because you hear about things like this happening all the time. There are so many dangers around everywhere and all it takes is one screw up and that can be it.
