Did he even look at the roster before writing this? It's like the prof asked him to write a closed book essay and he blew off studying to play video games till 4 in the morning.

I don't think the writers want the Rockets to make a splash because then they couldn't write about how we're the tough-as-nails, blue-collar, lovable losers.

I also sensed the lack of respect for AB0. Bucher is suggesting we Morey a deal to get CP3 or DWill. Bye-bye, AB?

BTW, did anyone see that No****ski opted out of his contract to test the FA market? ...Flame suit on...

    It depends.
    Agreed
Strongly agreed. This line is the most interesting one. Bosh is a good player but not that good. He tends to fade against elite defenders. He is extremely overrated on this board.
The bottom line is Houston would not be a contender without a healthy Yao, even if they managed to get Bosh.

Ahahahahahaha. Our only asset is a trade exception? Our nucleus is Kevin Martin and Trevor Ariza? Whoo I love those guys. Next thing they'll be telling me I ride a horse to go to work.

They said the same things about Garnett while he was toiling away with no help at all in Minnesota.

Actually, I'm all for the Hawks resigning Johnson, and we trading for Horford instead of getting Bosh. He is perfect for what we need right now as a Back-up PF/C.

What they say don't matter. You gotta watch their games. The difference is Garnett was a better offensive player and also a much much better defender. Garnett's heart and toughness are also something that you don't get from Bosh. Only one current Rocket can match Garnett's heart and toughness. That's Scola. Bosh is not even remotely close. This is from someone who doesn't even like Garnett.

Ric Bucher is a snothead. And here's the proof:

another assest is "If free agents want to be a global presence," Morey said, "we have more people tuning in to our regular-season games than the Super Bowl."

Bucher is right, Bosh is not a cornerstone, but the Rockets seem to believe Yao still is...so...

I agree with a lot in the article. If Tracy McBosh can be had without giving up too many assets then I would be ok with it. If acquiring him means losing any two out of the Scola/Martin/Brooks trio then I would take a pass on him. He isn't a franchise player if you're a franchise looking to win a ring. I'm not sure combining him a healthy Yao is the combination for success either unless they are surrounded by talent and toughness. Giving up our backcourt and/or Scola's toughness isn't an option IMO.

Then you factor in how much the guy will cost and acquiring him becomes even less attractive.

I think Bucher is saying he's not convinced Bosh is that elite talent the Rockets should go after.

NOBODY is a certain cornerstone until they win their first title. Some people insist that LeBron isn't worth giving up too much for because he's never won a ring yet. People made the same claim about Barkley and Ewing.

Screw all this "cornerstone" talk -- Bosh is a big piece of a championship puzzle, and for all the talent, depth and potential the Rockets currently have, they still need another BIG piece or two.

I agree, I prefer Horford to CB. Besides, Houston already has a CB, it would be too confusing.

Would it be possible for Houston to trade for AH without losing YM, KM, TA, LS, SB, and CB?

Point: Bosh, Trevor Ariza and Kevin Martin. That trio won't strike fear in any hearts nor does it possess the markings of a title contender.

Counterpoint: Luckily, we will not be putting our team in any 3-on-3 pick up games/tournaments. (Of course if we were, I would like to think our most improved player of the year might get some consideration over our MLE guy, but what do I know...).
