This moves them 30 mil under salary cap. I wonder if Avery is going to make a run at Dirk.

Ya I have heard several suggestions like yours....I believe bill Simmons even asked Stern directly at some point and his view was that the system works pretty well now. I believe this is also one of the things that is up for discussion in the next CBA. If Stern has any reservations about it must be due to his plan to eventually expand into Europe. I can't see a wise GM standing in the way of a more robust NBADL but I can see some agents having a problem with it and since they control the players association to some extent, it would make for an interesting debate.

They need a quality center, can't count on McGee, Blatche is not a C.

I apparently have to spread some rep around before I rep you again. I don't have a big rep stick though, so you're not missing much.

There used to be a DLeague team less than 30 minutes from my house (Broomfield 14ers). I went maybe once even though I love basketball mainly because the talent level was horrible.

    lol. getting more interesting.
New Jersey Nets pretty much in war with Chicago.
Both team can offer 2 max contracts. it's LBJ or any big free agents choice to either playing with Devin Harris + Brook Lopez and Derrick Favors in NJN vs playing with Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah in Chicago.

I think the NBADL could turn into something, but it's along way off from being the equivalent of minor league baseball.

I don't think all the owners are sold on the NBADL, as most don't have thier own team. I have no ide awhat the cost is, but I'd be surprised if they are profitable at all. Sure you can live with that if you're producing talent in the majors, but I doubt most owners see much of a win there.

As well, baseball has no competing leagues to deal with. No minor leaguer is going to go run off to play in Europe for a higher salary. They don't pay the minor leaguers crap, and that's ok because it's thier only option.

If the NBA drafted more players, and forced them to play in the DL, would players choose to play elsewhere for more freedom and money? I think so. if they're good enough, a GM will grab them no matter where they play.

What I'd like to see next is maybe adding a third round to the draft, allow teams to sign players to the D league. Only problem with that is that we then won't see the best PG in the DL play in the bigs if his team is never in need of a PG scenario.

i have to agree with you there. I had high hopes for him when he came in (didn't really care for the whole age thing cause did not feel it would matter). To me he is just lazy on offense. off course this could have been a result of bad couching last year. but he just don't seem to want to work on the court. He just stands there and shoots. Add in the fact that he can't box out. I would say his defence is not as bad as some people say, but he really needs to learn how to box out and grab a rebound.

Yep... he had one good game that night, and on several other instances in the season, but then he falls right back to below-average play. Overall, I don't think he's even as productive as Stromile was. Both great physical talent, Yi has better shooting range than Swift, but neither is nearly as good the sum of his parts.

I don't think you can judge YI by this trade. He has definitely shown improvement. He still is weak but so is Bargnani and Nowitzki and Garnett.

This is strictly a cap clearing move. No matter how much a coach may dislike a player. You don't pay a team 3 mil to take a 4 mil a year player on his last contract. The wizards got to love the deal. They get to try out YI for Free.
