Clippers F Odom suffers setback, will miss 8-12 more weeks August 26, 2002 LOS ANGELES (TICKER) -- Los Angeles Clippers forward Lamar Odom has re-injured his right ankle and will be sidelined an additional two or three months, the team announced Monday. Odom twisted the ankle during a recent rehabilitation workout, according to team orthopedic surgeon Dr. Tony Daly. An examination revealed an accumulation of fluid and swelling, and Odom consulted two foot and ankle specialists before he was fitted Monday with a hard cast. The cast includes an electrical stimulation device to promote healing and will be removed in four weeks, at which time the ankle will be re-evaluated. ___________________________________________ Again, who wanted to trade Yao's pick for Odom?
Hehe...Clippers will make the playoffs....maybe sometime.Oh wait, 8-12 weeks will end when? 2-3 months? Ahh...too long. BTW, who does LA got at SF now? They had Miles, but...not now. HEHE! Anyway, good thing we got Ming instead. I was kind of weary of Odom, anyway.
That's too bad for Odom. I think he is a quality NBA player. Of course you know I have to say it though right? Wrong Forum I just had too do it. Sorry.
I guess they will go with Corey Maggette if he is healthy. He isn't nearly the polished player that Odom is, but he can probably help the Clippers stay above .500.
I hope it doesn't end up as serious as Grant Hill's ankle injury - both for his sake and the Clippers' sake. Odom can be a very good all-around player...but this ankle injury just doesn't sound right.
I agree mfclark, the Clippers need to be VERY careful with this. The Clippers are in trouble, losing McGinnis and Miles thins them big time. Andre Miller is a big addition but I said it before and I'll say it again. I think the Rockets are just as good, just as talented, and deeper then the Clippers.
I think the clips will be fine. they got their two rookies at backup now to a fine starting lineup of: andre miller quentin richardson corey maggette elton brand michael olowakandi they'll still be a playoff worthy team IMO, but don't get me wrong, so will the rockets. bye-bye sonics and jazz.
After hearing this news, you just have to believe that the karma was not there for us to get Odom. Thank GOD that we did not acquire this guy, and got Yao Ming, instead.
2-3 Months will be just intime for the trade deadline . . .. or so. Enough time for him to prove he is not Grant Hill. Rocket River mmmmmm around the same time we'll be shopping one of our PFs or something . . . . .
Unfortunately their rookies are power forwards (/center in ely's case i suppose). elton's the best player on the team and they are only going to eat into his minutes.
Hmm. I want to see how good Nachbar is, but I still wouldn't mind swapping out Rice for Odom in a 3 way with a team that needs cap room, like say, the Kings, the Bucks, Portland, or NY.. If the Clippers move Odom they need a starting 3, a backup 1, and a backup 5. Our space parts are Rice, Taylor, Cato and Mooch. We'd probably have to move two and take some long contract trash in return. I'd imagine the league takes a wait-and-see on Odom. Now, if he gets really cheap, where we could go, say, Mooch for Odom, you have to look close at that, even if you're just renting a stud backup for Nachbar. Then again, maybe they need the Rice money for later, so really no contracts can be taken. Just thinking out loud.
For anyone who cares, my screen name is a joke, in no way shape or form do advocate the devil, or his actions, if you believe in him or not. The name was given to me, when i pointed out Satan is spelled "S-A-T-A-N" and not "S-A-T-I-N", and ever since i've been knicknamed that. Thank you for caring. Go Rocks! Go Yao! We are going to the playoffs this year, I promise.
Well if Satan promises that we're going to make the playoffs this season then that's good enough for me!
I love the Rox, but I hope we didn't all sell our souls just for the playoffs. Promise us another title, then we'll talk.
