Just saw it. Talking about "rolling out the red carpet" for Bosh, and as far as chances of teams getting Bosh, saying he is told to include Houston as having a good chance as any. Talking about it's important that Bosh play PF because he does not want to be C. Saying how crucial Yao's health is as a factor for Bosh coming here, and how we have really good pieces to include in a SnT.

    GIT R DONE MOREY!

I figured this was coming when he tweeted how that crappy Fastbreak show on ESPN left out the possibility of S&T since they would be losing so much money.

Just out of curiosity, how much money do you think Morey will throw at him, and for how many years?

Yao's health... lookn at Yao's health history if i were Bosh id say no... id rather ride the coat tails of King James and go to Chicago... Noah, King James, and Rose if u were Bosh why would say yes to Rockets and No to the Bulls...

Interesting... and to add to the "not wanting to play C" point, even without Yao Ming, the Rockets have a group of guys who may not be Cs but are more than willing and able to bang big guys and had to do so last season-- they weren't great at it, but not that bad either.

@Jux_Jolt: He'll get the max if it's a S&T. That would amount to 6 years 127 mil I believe. Could be wrong though. If he signs outright(obviously that would be NOT with us), it's 5 yrs ~90 mil I believe. Again, I could be wrong on all this.

Bosh will get a 6 year (if it's a Sign and Trade, 5 yr if straight free agent signing) at the maximum salary (Just under $17M I believe).

Honestly, I want to hear "Include Houston in group of teams that may get James" statement.

Awesome. All it took was an announcement of a truck convoy of fans and a powerpoint presentation to even be mentioned in the group that may land Chris Bosh

How soon until Carl Herrera makes a thread about making a run at Brad Miller in order to land Bosh?

    so I'm clear, a 6 year max contract under a S and T is worth roughly 120MM.

and a 5 year max contract with a new team would be worth roughly $96MM

    Is that right?

Doesn't the presence of Early Termination Options narrow the gap? What is the best guess as to whether the max contracts of Bosh, Lebron, Wade have ETO's after the 4th year.

If they terminate early, they can sign another contract to guarantee more money into the twilight of their careers, no?

    The numbers I have...

    Non-Bird maximum contract (five years, 8%) = $99.8 million
Bird rights maximum contract (six years, 10.5%) = $130.35 million

Yes. If they exercise ETOs, they can narrow the gap. But the key point is guaranteed money. If they get a season-ending surgery in the 3rd year, and there's tons of questions regarding their return, what are they going to do?

Plenty of superstars get injured in the prime of their careers: Grant Hill, T-Mac, Yao, Allan Houston, etc.

That's what Morey's entire selling point has to be to Bosh. That Bosh needs the extra $30 mil GUARANTEED.

Not opt out until they are healthy?

Kind of the same situation that Yao is facing now.

Can you post the contract values for each scenario after 4 years?

Rileydog. I got that off other people's calculations, since I'm too lazy to do it myself. But you can tell the difference isn't that much. 2.5% compounded through 4 years is a few million bucks. I'm sure the much bigger sticking point, which Morey likely will hammer into Bosh's mind, is the extra year at max money.

And now Rockets fans won't even give Yao $10 mil a year rather than his max of $17-20 mil(pending length of contract). What's your point? The later Bosh opts out of his contract, the older he'll be. A 30 year old PF with injury history getting another max contract? In a new CBA? I'd bet a lot of money to say in that situation, his contract won't come near his current one.

Hopefully, Bosh's agent is a lot better at risk management than you, DD. And I mean that in the nicest possible way. :p

I think these are last years figures... A six year SnT Max contract is worth $125.5 million over six years. If a player signs outright with a rival team with enough capspace the most he can sign for is $96.1 million over five years. That means you leave 29.4 mil on the table if you do not sign with your home team or do a Snt with a Rival. That probably doesn't mean much to a player like Lebron who is sure to get another Max Contract after 5 years. But for a player Like Joe Johnson that will be his last big contract and he will not want to leave that 6 year and 30 mil on the table.

Of course it changes every year and I don't think will know the real figures until July 8

A bit off topic but Bucher also reporting Cavs will not do a S&T for LeBron if he decides to leave.
