nope brown is athletic and a decent defender but he has very poor shot selection and isnt nearly the outside shooter he tries to make himself out to be.

he is looking to get overpaid this summer the rockets should stay away from him.

they have younger guys already on board at the same position they should develop first (Taylor) than bring in Brown.

and if i am not mistaken Brown hardly even played in the finals this year

Yea but he's a very young player, has tons of athleticism.

Yeah sure why not, I'm not sold on Jermaine Taylor, I think Brown would be an improvement at the back up SG position.

but it's a cost issue. I don't know if Brown would be worth it for the $2 million ish he was due to get, much less the higher salary (or longer contract, or both) he hopes to get.

These types of signings need to focus on the frontcourt, unless and until we get a trade done that improves the frontcourt otherwise.

Yeah, I don't trust your player evaluations. Didn't you compare Whiteside to KG?

    Absolutely stupid idea.

Look what happened with Ariza, we're going to be paying this bum for the next 4 years.

dont forget that there is a 100% chance the rockets will be over the luxury tax next year so even if Brown wants a deal around 3-4 million (way too much for him anyway) it would effectively cost the Rockets 6-8 million which is just ludicrous for a player like him

But he played solid minutes off the bench for 2 time championship team, tons of experience on the road. You can't put a big price on cost ya know? I'm not saying pay him 8-9 mil but MLE seems like fair to me considering he has upside, he's young and he has improved every year he's been in the league + has experience

Why don't we just sign Von Wafer instead then?

Jermaine Taylor has upside and is just as Swole as Brown and it was hard enough for the rockets to fit him into the rotation so brown would just do the same.

Plus he has a girls name. Hehe

    I pass.

if you thought bringing an MLE player would mean a top 3 leading scorer of your team your expectations were WAY off. An MLE is for an average role player and that is exactly what Ariza is

    apparently the lakers did though

and again the MLE last year started at 5.8 million per year you want to pay him that??? add in the rockets are over the luxury tax so it would cost them nearly 12 million a year for him??

the guy isnt garbage but he is sure as hell is one of the most overrated players in the NBA because he was on the Lakers. Right now Brown is a bit better than Chase Budinger imo (they have different strength/weaknesses) but he fits no need or has no value to this team and especially NOT at that price tag.

championship experience off the bench IMO is highly overrated way too many players have gotten huge contracts for that. (EX: James Posey - and yes he was a MLE deal)

sorry dude you and your lakers can keep him

ariza is far better than brown as an overall player on both sides of the ball. the thing ariza cant do is play out of position (he has to be SF) and be a 3rd option or higher on offense - we saw this last season how much better Ariza played once Martin came to the team.

not saying ariza is an all nba player here but comparing him to shannon brown is really selling ariza short. ariza was a starter on the 2009 lakers team while brown was coming of the bench.
