My gut says that NY will be left out of the LeBron/Bosh/Wade group and then will look to reunite Johnson/Amare under Dantoni.

What a waste of two max contracts. Those two guys won't get NY a championship, but they'll kill their cap space for the next half decade. Even worse, they'll win them just enough games to keep them drafting in the bottom of the first round, with no chance of creeping into the top five and landing a superstar.

    Hope they get him.

    Johnson + Amare/Boozer/Gay + scrubs = Lottery team.

I read somewhere awhile ago that Amar'e was one of the reasons Joe Johnson wanted to get away from the Suns, Amar'e was riding Joe's jock about (of all things) his defense. Go figure that out.

I could see Amare going to NY. Johnson could be a poor man's Nash for them.
Won't get them very far. The value of the picks wiil decrease. They could still be somewhat useful for us.

I'm gonna go ahead and guarantee that this doesn't happen.

    2009-2010 salaries:
    Carlos Boozer $12,657,233
    Joe Johnson $14,976,754
    Amare Stoudemire $16,378,325
    Rudy Gay $ 3,280,996

The Knicks have about $32M-$36M to spend this off-season. I'm pretty sure all of these guys want raises, so realistically the can get two of these guys.

Joe Johnson can't handle the heat from the fans in Atlanta, he's going to need a psychiatrist to deal with all the crap he's going to get from Knicks fans. I would stay away from Joe Johnson for anything more than the MLE. That guy is not a #1 or #2 guy on a championship team. He's the older Rudy Gay basically.

Translation: If the Heat or Bulls aren't going to give me the max then I want the Knicks to.

Lebron will go the Knicks. He doesn't care as much about winning as the GOAT did/does

it's more than just basketball. we should know in a week.

I picked the Knicks in my 2k Dynasty, like turning around bad situations...

But I did the Johnson thing because no one was left, then let my cap space roll over next year to sign Carmelo Anthony. NYK should just be patient, don't pay anyone you're not sure you want to give the max.

If they field a good team this season, and if Carmelo doesn't sign a extension...he WILL leave for NYC. If anyone is attracted to that spotlight it's him, plus he played in the state and his wife is from there, it'd be a deal I don't see him passing up on.

Agree with the bolded part, but JJ is much better than Rudy Gay will ever be. Gay will never have the ability to be the top dog of a 50-win team with a poor head coach. He doesn't have the skill level, mentality nor the all-around game.

I understand the D'Antoni connection and the likely max contract offer, but JJ in NY won't go well. I hope it happens because I want the Knicks to fail fail fail. I like Knicks fans and feel sorry for them, but I strongly dislike their organization.

That's a great plan. I don't know why all teams don't make decisions based on video games...

Johnson is overrated. He is good but not that good. So NYK will still suck.

@alanhahn: RT @Chris_Broussard: Knicks' first free agent meeting will be with Joe Johnson at midnite EST July 1. Sources say NYK Johnson's 1st choice.

I say JJ and Boozer end up there surrounded by avg to below avg talent. Lotto pick here we come baby!

if the knicks strike out on lebron/bosh/wade...

i would tell the hornets ill take whatever contracts they have as long as i can get paul. paul is better than anyone left outside of the top 3 and under dantoni he would be even more dangerous.

even bad contracts like okafor and peja should be productive on the knicks depleted roster.

Finally, at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Knicks will meet with LeBron in northeast Ohio

NYK starting to get a little love from players. Looks like they won't be shut out

Um, Chris, it's called leverage. The Knicks are an extremely attractive team for free agents... to use to get a better contract from a better team.
