Basically from the draft reports this is what I can gather.

Very efficient in converting from the paint. Great Finisher.
Good spot up jump shooter (47% from mid-long range).
    Good Bball IQ
Willing to Sacrifice his game for teammates.
    Good back to basket scorer.
    Good Offensive Rebounder.

    Weaknesses:
Trouble defending outside shooters, poor awareness.
    No face up moves.
    Can't shoot off dribble.
Inconsistent free throw shooter (went from 77% to 69%)
Has one of the worst defensive rebounding rate among prospects at that position (might be due to Cousins).

    Feel free to add more.

PP is a good rebounder. The reason why his rebounding rate dip is because he is playing with Cousins who also grab tons of rebounds. But overall, PP is a good safe pick for Houston. But I know people said his upside isn't high but that is all depending on a player will to improve in the next level. If PP works hard enough, he can become an all star player in this league.

But we all cannot say anything about PP until we see him on the court first. I'm so excited though. I see him backing up Scola and Hill will be the back up center or who knows, he may even replace Yao as the starting center if Yao cannot contribute.

I don't agree with you on Yao not being able to contribute right away. Yao Ming is an all star player and he will start and Jordan Hill isn't good enough to even start for Yao Ming. I think Jordan Hill, PP, and LUis will all fight for minutes and the Rockets still need to find a backup center for Yao Ming because Hill is a PF, not a Center.

...hill can play center. He just needs a few pounds.

Jordan Hill is a slash PF/C type of player. He has the frame to play the Center position. That is the Rockets training staff plan this offseason is to bulk up J.Hill. If Yao Ming cannot contribute, expect Jordan Hill to replace him in the starting line up and have Yao to come off the bench. But that would be nice though. Having Yao Ming backing up Hill and Pat Pat backing up Scola. We would have a solid front court bench.

Yeah, Yao is not coming off of the bench. He would still start, just see a decrease in his minutes.

Oh, and lets not call Patrick Patterson "Pat Pat". That sounds pretty dumb.

I think if he can improve in those two categories his ceiling could be unlimited...

Thank you very much. Rep for you. I feel the main reason why he fell was because of his weakness as a defender.

Patrick said that he would prefer to defend threes, rather than long 4's in his interview to Givony from Draft Express. That caused me some concern since he is a 4. He will have trouble defending players around the basket and 12-15 feet away from it too, because of limited defensive footwork.

I feel he is strong enough to handle contact, but he will have to get used to physical play in the NBA.

He is a hard worker and coachable. He realizes that he needs to improve a lot on defense.

I don't think he will run away from the responsibility of going up against Boozer,Randolph types, but he will have to go through a rough time.

Your points about him are well thought out.

I like the pick. He is a good replacement for Landry.

I think he can score more than Hill, but Jordan is a better defender.

You are expecting too much from Hill in a short period of time.

Josephduyho03, agreed on Yao's skills but DM is projecting 25 mins to start the season which leaves a ton of game time for the backups. not inconceivable that he might not "start" all the time.

personally if he's able to give 25 premium mins at the start of the season, i'd much rather get most of that contribution at game end.

The only thing troubling is the FTs.

When would he ever defend outside shooters? On pick and roll situations? That's pretty rare.

No face up moves is fine; he'll have PLENTY of time to develop his shots.

What PF shoots off the dribble? I can only think of Dirk, and to a lesser extent, LaMarcus Aldridge from Portland. Again, can work on this.

Rebounding, yeah, is probably due to Cousins. I'm sure he'll get his, on this team.
