Posey looks like someone who definitely needs to start...I been wanting to tame my enthusiasm, but I know overall our depth on the Texans isn't so great, but at linebacker, we seem to be best at depth...Mitchell is great! Sharper is great! I just hope the coaches realize what Posey is bringing! p.s. so excited about the Texans finally getting to play here!
Posey has been a nice surprise. So has Greg White!!! He won't start, but I hope he'll see significant playing time.
Linebacker is by far the deepest part of this team, and maybe even in the league. With the 3-4 defense, they knew they needed several solid LB's. Looks like they came out with even more. It looks like Wong and Sharper are the only sure starters, so I'd expect that Mitchell, Posey, Greg White, Greg Jones, and Jay Foreman would just rotate to keep the defense fresh. Then there's Mcclain who showed up with a nice game last night. If they can all keep it up, I wouldn't be surprised if one or two of these guys were traded to help out another part of the team down the road.
They won't be able to keep all of those guys. The Texans have to cut almost half the roster to get to the 53 man limit by week 3 of the season.
Posey is one of the most consistant players at getting to the quarterback. He definately needs to start.
LB Greg White, DT Ahmad Miller, P John Baker, WR Eric Chew, LB Tony Donald, LB Billy Granville, DE Uhuru Hamiter, S Toya Jones, TE Joey Knapp, DB Anthony Malbrough, FB Matt Snider and T Jerry Wisne were cut by the Texans. They have to make 2 more cuts before Tuesday.
I cant believe Greg White was released. That sucks. What more could he have done? I guess that shows how deep we are at LB.
Releasing Greg White will prove to be a mistake. He gave us great depth at OLB. Without him, I doubt our second team OLBs will be nearly as strong.
If you watch the N.O. game again, you'll notice that on all 4 of his sacks he was basically unblocked, it's not like he made some great moves or actually beat someone off the line. From what Capers & Casserly have said, he was incredibly inconsistent, didn't always show the effort they were looking for, and struggled in pass coverage (something he would have to do occasionally). He also contributed nothing on special teams, something which most/all backups & rookies must do. He may get re-signed to the practice squad later, but losing him shouldn't be too big of a deal, he was a 7th round pick after all. I trust the management (who've seen much, much more of him than we have) to make the right call.
You make a good point. I just think that this was premature. He is a rookie after all. I think he will develop into a solid OLB...it's unfotunate that it will happen somewhere else.
KEITH Mitchell is nursing a neck injury and cannot practice with contact. It will be a while before he is ready to go. BTW...he signed a 1 year deal. We may not be able to keep him. That is another thing that makes White a nice option.
yeah..but can he make barehanded grabs like KEVIN Mitchell did for the Giants out in leftfield of the Astrodome!!??? Can he hit 50 homers and then disappear from the face of the planet??
Didn't he also have a ball bounce off his head and over the fence for a HR when he played with the Mets? CK
