Actually, I don't see the moves that are supposed to produce this, but it looks like we lose Martin, Ariza, Scola, Hill, CBud, #14, plus maybe Jeffries and Andersen, and get back Turner, Iguodala, Bosh... I guess it's OK, though Iguodala is overpaid.
Thats a great deal. Thats why a team like the Rockets wont do it. I am sure Morey is capable of great deals like in the past but we havent made the ones that really put us over the top. This would be one. Thats why I have no confidence that its gonna happen. Just reality tempering my enthusiasm over Chinas rumors.
YOU ARE SAYING MOREY WONT DO THIS? ITS NOT LIKE THERE HAS BEEN A HISTORY OF MOREY SHYING AWAY PUBLICALLY FROM BIG DEALS LIKE THIS. ONLY THE ASKING PRICE HAS BEEN TOO HIGH
Exactly. I think Evan will eventually be an all-star,but with Martin around,we really don't need another SG. A defensive minded SG with some offensive ability to back him up will be good enough. Taylor needs to improve, otherwise a replacement will be needed.
1) Trade Jared Jeffries, Alexander Johnson, David Andersen, 2012 First Rounder, 2011 Second Rounder, 3 Million Cash to the Philadelphia 76ers for Elton Brand & the Second Overall Selection In The 2010 NBA Draft. 2) Trade Kevin Martin to the Minnesota Timberwolves for the Fourth Overall Selection in the 2010 Draft. 3) Draft Evan Turner with the Second Overall Selection in the 2010 Draft. 4) Draft DeMarcus Cousins with the Fourth Overall Selection in the 2010 Draft. 5) Draft Paul George with the 14th Overall Selection in the 2010 Draft. 6) Trade Shane Battier to the Portland Trailblazers for Rudy Fernandez & Joel Przybilla. 7) Resign Kyle Lowry. Houston Rockets: 2011 Depth Chart 1) Aaron Brooks / Kyle Lowry 2) Evan Turner / Rudy Fernandez 3) Trevor Ariza / Paul George 4) Elton Brand / Jordan Hill 5) Yao Ming / DeMarcus Cousins Daryl Morey would be a GOD...
1) salaries don't match. Off by about $7 million that we need to send. 2) salaries don't match - we have to send $13 million in salary, 6) do-able, but put Pryzbilla in your depth chart.
Also, I don't know why Alexander Johnson is in 1), but he would have to be S&T'd, which cannot happen before or during the draft. He could be signed to a minimum contract during the moratorium, but trades aren't permitted. I guess they could make the pick for us, with the trade finalized on 7/8...
Per my thread entitled "More from Morey", DM confirmed that the Rockets had an offer on the table to eat Elton Brand's contract to get the #2 pick. Accordingly, this reported source from hoopschina should be given some additional credence in the future. Let's keep this in mind in the future.
You think they'd have taken Turner, Favors, or Cousins? Based on your other post it sounded like Favors might have been #2 on their board but I just can't see a team looking to compete next year going with that pick. It would have had to have been Cousins or Turner right?
DM said Wall, Favors, Cousins and Turner. He wasn't clear if he was listing them in order, but my sense was it was in order because Wall was first and he was rattling off the names quickly like it was from a list. But I don't know. Based on that, I'd guess he would have taken one of the bigs.
He would have traded down to Minny at #4 and picked up something else to go along with Cousins at #4.
Thanks. Just read the great Riley recap of Morey's lunch talk. So close to hitting that homerun, assuming Cousins or perhaps Favors turns into a superstar.
