I wonder if this is the exact thing that happen when Steve Jobs demonstrated the iPhone 4 at Keynote and blaming people for the wifi problem.
There haven't been any Wifi issues, at least not from me and when he did that demonstration, I think he set both the 3Gs and the iPhone 4 down.
That's pretty funny to have Jobs basically tell all their customers they don't know how to hold an iPhone 4 properly and avoid holding it that way. Umm...okay...thanks!
a couple of question for your iphone ehnthusiastics: 1. Can I purchase it without AT&T contract (e.g. for overseas use)? 2. If face time has to use wifi, what exactly is that good for? In situations with wifi, I usually have a mbp around, so Ichat can do more than iphone. Am I right?
People who b**** about video chatting need to come off it. What the hell did you expect? It's an early adoption technology, once the market catches up, you'll have more phones that are capable of connecting with it... and once the networks catch up, you'll be able to do it anywhere... blaming apple for the video call's shortcomings is kinda dumb.
i dont even know why people would want to video chat. I don't want to have people see how uninterested in what they are saying.
That's strange way of thinking. As a consumer, I just want something works, and useful. Who the hell care it's apple's fault or not. If the technology is not there, then I'll wait. Apple can put James Bond style secret shot gun iphone, if it's of no use for me, I wouldn't care.
So what's the use blaming the first adopter of a new technology? That's a stranger way of thinking. 3-4 years from now when video calls are common place, bashing Apple for video calls "limited" use will look silly. If YOU personally don't have a use for it (not because it's limited in its scope currently) that is entirely besides my point. Smart phones have a crap ton of features I never use, either, but I'm not going to bash the manufacturer for it, as obviously other people can find use in it and the consumer electronic market does not revolve around me
I couldn't agree with you more. I think video chat is a horrible idea. My wife calls it the phone sex app.
Whats wrong with that? Seriously though, like DonnyMost, I dont get this b****ing about it...its a nice, new feature and it works incredibly well over wifi. I never thought it would be so smooth, but its pretty sweet.
I bet someone in the JB community creates an app to allow video chat with anyone on iChat, G Talk, etc.
I don't think having it just work on WiFi is a horrible thing but they should enable me to use it to connect to my SKYPE contacts not just other people with iphone 4.
Come on now.. everyone should be well aware of Apple's game in which they hold back full functionality and sell it as a new feature next year for iOS5
