I have full faith in Morey. He knows exactly what he's doing, and for every move that turns out unfavorably he makes 10 that are homeruns

Nothing against Patterson, but i am disappointed with the draft results. Not one trade, not one 2nd rounder. This is just too much.... Morey really had a rough night.

I think he will be better than Jordan Hill. Like his size better than Hill, Hill doesn't have the frame to bulk up, Patterson looks like a beast.

Anyone disappointed in this draft should tell us who they would have picked.

Would you have preferred he pay too much? I think every general manager is ultra greedy on draft night, because they know this is the one night of the year that their boss is watching them like a hawk. A shrewder approach is to horde assets until the trade deadline when it's easier to find a team desperate to do something, anything, to shake up their team.

exactly i was hoping for x henry or p patterson. and i think those two guys were the best option for where this team is at and adelman's offense.

I would have traded down. At pick #14, the pick was fine. The point is that the right move was probably to trade down and acquire a few more assets.

    Conservative.

I expected HOU to move up. The draft was quite underwhelming for the Rockets.

Could we not buy just 1 pick in the second round though to get either Whiteside or Alabi?!

I give it a B+, good solid pick about what you can expect form 14 in the draft.

I was kind of hoping they would buy a 2nd rounder etc...but they did a good job of getting a solid player at their own pick.

Asking price would have been too much. Could have touched assets that could be used in the free agency race.

    I gave a B for boring.

I'm sure he is a solid NBA contributor, the BPA, a stocked asset to be used to trade or replace players traded, a great team member.

I just wanted to trade up for one of the Fab 5 in this draft or trade down to get a solid contributor and a C prospect.

They way Damion James and Alabi were bouncing around I would propose just for interest sake what if we had come up with those two players instead of Patterson? Or say James Anderson and Jerome Jordan?

But now we at least get to speculate ad nauseum on July 1st trades so maybe this pick helps stretch out the Summer fun.

Houston Rockets PF: Scola, Hill, Hayes. Patterson, Anderson
Houston C : Yao Ming .... Brian Zoubek?

Honestly, I don't watch enough college ball to know Patrick Patterson from Ekpe Udoh or Al-Farouq Aminu, but considering Daryl Morey's draft record, he deserves the benefit of the doubt.
    Make it a B+.

LCII just posted a great story about Patterson's character. Now why should Morey risk losing this guy to go after Whiteside, a headcase who has ADHD?

People with ADHD can live a normal, and productive life, yes. But that doesn't mean Rockets should take the risk unless a 14th pick could net them huge assets (which is unlikely).

After reading about him, I want to change my grade from a B+ to an A+ for the Patterson pick.

I do wish we got a high 2nd round pick though, and maybe took Whiteside...but a good draft, if uneventful overall.
