Were not don yet with getting a Big in here based on Morey's comment. I'm really glad now .. It's probably going to go down like this.. Bosh , Stat, Boozer, Lee, Gortat
Predictions--Bosh is heading to Miami, Stat to New York, Lee to New Jersey, we wanted Gortat before and now orlando is loaded with bigs--looks like Gortat to me.
Utah and New York are not going to sign-and-trade Boozer or Lee, respectively, to the Rockets. And the Rockets aren't getting either of those two for the MLE. Bosh is the obvious first choice. Stoudemire is a distinct possibility as a fallback. Gortat is still overpaid with that full MLE deal, and I don't think Orlando is going to want whatever Morey would be willing to trade for that contract. A guy like Brad Miller is more likely than Gortat, especially if Morey can convince Brad to take only a portion of the MLE (or, best case scenario, the vet minimum or possibly LLE).
I think Bosh is more interested than we think after watching his Mike and Mike in the Morning appearance. He mentioned Houston when he talked about going places and people asked him to come. These three were mentioned Dallas, I don't see as major players to get him because they already have Dirk and neither fit as a 5. New York, this could be the place he lands especially if Lebron goes. Houston, I think us along with Miami have the best shot at landing him but he didn't mention Miami. Whether or not that is just because he knows Miami is his place or if his competitive nature really won't let him be second fiddle to Wade we shall see.
Very interesting how Morey was trying to trade up for Patterson all along over anyone else. No wonder they were ecstatic about him being on the board without having moved up to #9, 10 or 12. Could lost some pieces for nothing!
They mentioned getting a C that could protect the rim didn't they? Brad Miller is not that guy, though I would not be surprised to see him in a Rocket uniform.
Priorities: 1- try to obtain all-star talent 2- try to obtain defensive big Plan A) It's still Bosh, then Stoudemire. They'll do their best, but they're aware the odds are against them, especially with Chicago and Miami making huge pushes the last few days. Fallback) Address "defensive" big. Don't be surprised if they go hard after Hasheem Thabeet who had a disappointing rookie campaign in Memphis. Team has a lot going on right now and he's not indispensable. Last Resort) Aging vet to supply 'plug-in' minutes.. ie. Brad Miller and the like..
Well if Bosh goes to Miami he will just be overpowered by huge front lines with alot of depth like teams like Houston with Scola, Yao, Hill, Patterson, and Chuck Hayes for rest and depth and the Lakers. We would have a massive line of good player after good player to throw at everyone. Including the Lakers. Then Martin could get his freethrows and Brooks is gonna burn Lakers starting point gaurds allnight long. Yao is better than Bynum. Ariza is still young and Artest is getting old. We have more depth. I am considering maybe we dont need Bosh. Bosh would maybe deplete our depth. They would want Hill, Patterson and picks. That might be too much. That would leave us with no backup to Yao if he needed rest and Hill is a good serviceable backup along with all of these big guys we have now makes for a super deep team. Maybe we stay pat? Lets see what they ask for first the other teams. They dont have as much as we do to offer back except for one guy who may or may not want to come here and may not add to the overall depth if they ask for too much.
Heck who am I kidding? I hope Bosh comes here and success to him wherever he goes. I like the guy as a player and always have. Come on Bosh! We have the talent and the assets. The top dawg. Everything.
man morey called chuck an elite defender. dang i knew he was good but never realized how the management thought of him
"Prices higher than they have ever been" What? Seems a lot of teams jettising NBA talent for not much to get some cap room, at least Miami & Chicago. DD
I can understand, and agree, with all this. I just don't see the want/need/reasoning/etc with abandoning Scola, particularly after he is resigned, which I have to assume is in the cards. Bosh can add versatility to the front line, and he could assume am Odom-like place as a 3 while on the court with Yao and Luis. Luis can slide to the 5 in certain situations, as Bosh has said he won't willingly slide there himself. Amar'e is a selfish pr**k who will only be able to play the 4, and only on O. A classic SnT possibility, and I hope he goes elsewhere. The C is the A+ need. Gortat is still getting paid, and Miller would seem to be a fit. I would certainly consider Hunter and maybe even Shaq. At worst I would pray for a miracle that Andersen becomes NBA competent after a year of acclimatization.
if you have the work ethic and athletic ability, you will improve. some people believe that PP`s ceiling isn`t as high as other players (because he`s already developed a lot of his game), but Morey states that the Rockets management don`t believe that. makes sense, our management know what they are doing. I like the pick for sure.
