Great. Compare the rookie to one of the most underrated Pfs in the league. We can keep both of them you know, and saying "every player taken at the 14th is a C" just shows you don't know what you're talking about.
I'm not saying Patterson will be better than Scola, I'm just saying there's a chance. Also, Scola WAS, what, 27 when he came in here? He had so much experience playing overseas that no college player will ever experience. Regardless, if we keep Patterson, it will be fun to see how he contributes next season.
Don't be daft. The fact that we drafted at 14 instead of trading down (or up) is why I don't like the pick. We needed a center. Ok, no center to be had worth the 14? Then move the pick. And yes, we can keep both of them, but do we really need 3 PFs (with our 2 backups being lottery picks)? Don't get emotional. Be rational. And it isn't like Patterson was a can't miss prospect that we just had to take because he fell in our laps.
Like I said, I will happily eat my words if Patterson turns into a star. I will also like the pick much more if we move either him or Hill and get a solid backup C out of it.
i mentioned this earlier - but the rockets had him as #6 overall, so according to them, he was someone they had to take because he fell in their laps.
Gave it a B. Still believe the Rocket's have something up their sleeves. No way they stay pat this offseason.
All I have to say is he is a pretty damn good player. Plays great offense. Calipari really helped that out. He also has some good defense. He will be taking minutes from Chuck later on. Chuck is an offense liability. So I think it was a good pick for being the 14th spot.
the FO said they were targeting him all along so Ill have to believe their judgement here.. hes a player tho
and what if there was no solid backup C that the Rockets/Morey liked to trade down for? They assessed the situation and came up with Patterson as the best option at that point.
I gave it an A. I figured out long ago that the players I wanted generally turn to crap, while the picks Morey have chosen have gone fairly well. So instead of saying we should have gotten so and so, I just assume that Morey and friends know what they are doing.
Not a bad draft. But with all the talk, if you're a fan you have to be a lil disappointed. With all the potential moves we could've made, we come with nothing....yet....
yea but how many people did they exclude? i dont supposed they bothered to put wall, favors, turner etc on that same board........
There was no "C-" so I voted "C." What is this Rocket love for undersized PFs? Scola, Hill and Jeffries should be enough. I don't see anything Patterson adds, especially if Bosh is the prize. Well, I'm not surprised over my disappointment. I expected as much. However, we can invite all the players suggested from Jerome Randle to Alexy Shved to Mikhail Torrence while we wonder what C we will acquire over the summer.
My inclination is to wait and see. I'll reserve my judgment until the first day of the regular season and see what DM has done by then.
