sure PP might be a solid pick, but how many freaking pf's we got now? And how many legit backup 5 we got? Ummm...andersen, hill, JJ, hayes... none of 'em are true center.
If Yao is healthy it doesn't matter. Actually Lakers preferred to go small vs the Rockets with Yao. Because Yao will love to play against Bynum Gasol and he and the Rockets are a lot better and allow Yao to be better defensibly. Remember the Lakers seating Bynum the 2nd and 3rd game because Yao abuse the Gasol, Bynum frontcourt. And Houston Out rebound 2 of the 3 games Yao play vs the Lakers and the other game was Houston out rebound by 1.
Including the free agents: David Andersen Trevor Ariza Shane Battier Aaron Brooks Chase Budinger Mike Harris Chuck Hayes Jordan Hill Jared Jeffries Alexander Johnson Kyle Lowry (FA) Kevin Martin Patrick Patterson Luis Scola (FA) Jermain Taylor Ming Yao
Agree. PG: 6 to 6-3 SG: 6-4 to 6-7 SF: 6-7 to 6-9 PF: 6-9 to 6-10 C: 6-11 to 7-1 Landry was only 6-8 in shoes.
I agree, when has 6'9" PF been undersized? That's the right size. How big was Malone, Barkley, etc....He's not here to play C, but as a PF that's the right size.
Perhaps I was wrong, but I remember when ESPN was talking about him that he won some defensive player award. Am I wrong?
Take the BPA or a position of need? The Rocket's brass said they would take the best player available. It's possible that we can still obtain an athletic center through a medium other than our 14th pick in the draft; you guys are freaking out.
I like Patterson and see good things. But when Yao goes off the court what 2 bigs are we going to have out there against a team like the Lakers mainly?
Thanks. So we're definitely shipping Jeffries out, methinks. Johnson and Harris are probably gone too. Lowry and Scola are getting resigned for sure, according to past reports. We have a pretty decent team, all said and done.
Highly doubtful he plays SF. Remember the Carl Landry experiment at SF? He'd probably play center before he plays SF.
From what I've seen, Patterson is as athletic as Landry, and he's considerably better defensively. That's really promising. The only thing that bothers me is that being on a team with as much talent as Kentucky can cover some weaknesses among some of their players.
been lovin this guy ever since I read this article about him last year- very nice kid http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/news?slug=jn-patterson101609
