I was in no way shape or form ragging on him - just countering a lot of posts that seem to think that Patterson is going to be better/as good as Landry on offense. I'm not saying he can't be...but I'd be surprised if he comes out averaging better than 12 ppg. If he sticks, he'll make it easier for us to make a big 4-for-1 or 5-for-2 trade.
Amen! At least one gets it. One, as you said, the Rockets insisted that they're going to pick BPA and disregard the roster. Two, Morey also said he was going to replace Landry through the draft. So why are some so shocked?
Landry was replaced with Jordan Hill. And we already have Hill / Scola manning the 4, why another PF? Unless Morey plans for Hill or PP to play backup to Yao. I mean, if we drafted a PG, wouldn't you be shocked because we have Brooks and Lowry?
the value he has far outweighs the makeup of the team. With Yao back we don't really need a center per se (Hill, Hayes and Jeffries can all play the position if really needed), and a talent of Patterson's calibre is too good to pass up. Its not a sexy pick, but we got the absolute best talent available. Patterson's ranked 3rd overall pf in Yahoo's board. Btw Whiteside keeps dropping like a stone. If we end up with both Patterson and Whitside I'm gonna take a leave from work right now and go straight home.
Given how much the big men are dropping, looks like Morey's doing pretty well to wait before trading for one. For a 2nd round pick, I'd LOVE Whiteside.
2 picks left in the 1st and Alabi, Whiteside, Orton all on the board. If Morey gets yet another 1st pick of 2nd round, we really have a lot to choose from. And unlike previous years, I think his pick won't come out of nowhere. Too many high potential players still left to take a flyer on.
