Wow man totally different.... Are you saying our 14th pick is going to turn out to be HALF of Hakeem (Who was pick 1st).. Hence I say half of what Hakeem was because I'll bet my left nut he doesn't even reach that level.
Who cares if Hill and him will be competing for minutes. Having two productive young PFs who could possibly grown into solid starters is a nice problem to have for one of the savviest GMs in the league....one who is negotiating the contract of his starting PF and is looking to rob other teams forced to make hard personnel decisions(Bosh & Paul to name two). This was a good pick both from a basketball and "asset" perspective.
Well, him and hayesfan. But this does reiterate the fact that Morey's number crunching obviously gives him a vastly different board than everyone else.
remember big baby went to work on that "huge" front court they are long but Soft as Hell if Perkins could have played they would have won.....Bynum's knee is crap and Gasol is so soft.....I still would take Scola over Gasoft our front court will be fine as long as Yao is back
I'm saying there is no way you can tell me that a 6'9 PF with a 7'1 wingspan is UNDERSIZED, to say that is moronic
So who are you going to have on the floor if you have gasol, bynum, odom. Is patterson going to out muscle bynum or gasol or will he get in foul trouble?
Bynum's ability to stay healthy for a season is seriously in question now, and you are right about Gasol...he can't defend. I think if Yao was in the picture, that would cancel their bigs out. Also, our PG would destroy any of theirs any day of the week. So I like the Patterson pick for what was on the board at the time, and he will be a solid player for us....
Great points, I agree. If he's anything close to Karl Malone who was a GREAT player, I'll be very happy with this pick. I really think this guy is ready to contribute very quickly
I'm OK with getting a guy like Patterson at #14, but what's up with Scola and Jordan Hill? I don't see all 3 guys on the same team. Doesn't seem to be a good fit for what the Rockets need.
"another undersized power forward" whine whine whine that's funny, so who do you guys proposing to draft? draft the invisible Tim Duncan? or the imaginary Sharq?
what's up with all this talk about replacing hill? Hill's the 8th pick, Patterson is the 14th....we still need to cover ourselves for the next decade and scola isn't exactly fresh out of college. Hill is bigger and has more potential than Patterson. If anything, you develop Patterson like Landry and then sell high. He'll only be hill's replacement if we have to give up Hill for stud player, but i can't see patterson being picked specifically to replace him.
Why is that totally different? Hakeem was 6-10 and a dominant defensive center. Rodman was 6-7 and a dominant defensive PF. Ben Wallace was 6-9 and manned the best defense in the NBA at the time. Why is it so hard to imagine non-7 footers playing excellent defense?
I don't see us keeping him. I mean we already have scola and hill, and I don't want a 6-9 guy playing center. I want a 6-11+ guy playing center.
