I was advertising this in another thread but I think it warrants it's own thread.

Francis is now going to IA. to meet Ming in person. When has a veteran star of a team gone to meet a recent rookie draft pick to get acquainted? Francis is going way beyond call of duty on this. He's showing real leadership.

Remember all the Francis Hates who at various times trashed Francis for not going to the Mayo Clinic(He's now done that one) Being Anti-Ming(largely based on rumor, and that's out of the way now too.) Not signing an extension - some said because he was upset about Ming coming to the team and stealing his spotlight.(The extension is taken of as well.)

Francis has acted like a pro the whole way. At worst Francis had a different opinion on Ming than others in the administration. Even if he did at one time, he didn't rock the boat, make trouble by going to the press and handled it professionally. Now he's going above and beyond the call of duty to go meet Ming in Indiana.

So Francis haters here's a chance to grab a pardon, eat some crow, and admit he may not be the selfish jerk people were painting him to be. Step right up and make the post.

Ive never had any of those negative thoughts about Francis. He doesnt jake, hes never complained about his teamates or coaches or his contract. Overall, I think Stevie has been a player and more importantly, a solid citizen. It does not suprise me at all that he wants to meet Yao before camp.

Welcome to the board codell. Read some of the threads and you will find that Francis hating runs rampant with some people on this board. I however, (as do most) agree with you.

It's great to have the Franchise locked up. :)

I hope franchise realizes Ming will not be in IA. This could start all of the bad feelings all over again if Franchise feels he's been stood up. :D

No, its just for people who bash him for not signing, not going to see Ming, not being a leader, etc. Here is where they can eat their words. And they don't get any salt to go with it. :D

Hmm...only problem is no one has eaten yet. AH!:(

Sorry about the confusion with the thread title. Those are the things that some people have said about Francis, and those are the people that I was targeting for their attacks.

However, I actually prefer reading the positive things people have said about Steve on this thread. It's cool to see people supporting someone based on his actions rather than bash him based on supposition, and rumor.

There is one topic that still irks me...why does he pimp and geek over Cato? I don't understand it. It's not like Cato will take Francis where he wants to go....I think Francis is the last in line to take the Ming train and is following the good feeling style now...

    *Yawn*

Wake me up when the season begins, and Francis is the leader on the court.

Cato's his teammate. What's he supposed to do? Say he's a worthless basketball player we wasted $40+ million on? If he did that the rest of the bbs would be at his throat for dissing his teammate, and that no real leader would do that! He may just be trying to motivate Cato; who knows?

Damned if ya do, and damned if ya don't... :)

I suggested that Steve should make the move to open up to Yao Ming, at least two weeks ago. I was shot down by at least 6 posters. I think he is making the move of a mature Sportsman, in going to IA. I'm sure it will go a long way in bringing Yao Ming into our Rox family. This will enable him to get into the rythem of things all that more quickly. This is good, as he will be two weeks late for Training Camp.

It looks like everything is starting to fall into place. A good sign seeing as last summer started off on the wrong foot and we all know how that season went.
