Jermaine Taylor was brought up on Clutchfans weeks before the draft.

He and Favors are the only bigs I'd even consider taking over Monroe.

LOL - we bring up every possibility, mostly I am talking about the leaks from the Rox themselves, they seem to not ever discuss the players they really want.....just an observation though, I could certainly be wrong.

honestly, i think the rockets are one of the few organizations that collects enough information on every player, college, pro, or international, to have an appreciation for the full breadth of options out there. i don't think it's a matter of flooding the airwaves with noise to disguise intentions (although that's definitely there as well) as much as it is being open to 30 or 40 different options, some of which get a lot of run while others don't. the rockets' pursuit of bosh is highly unlikely to yield anything, but it's just one potential avenue for improving the roster, and putting it out there costs the team little. i don't think it's any sleight of hand, as if he would come here the rockets would love to have him.

my opinion, based only slightly on any real data, is that if we can say an "average" NBA team may go into draft day with an appreciation for 10 or so options they have given their current draft position and with their current roster, the rockets probably have 30 or 40, and understand player values well out into the second round, even if there is a high probability they won't draft there unless a player they consider good value slips. the numbers are nothing concrete, i'm just trying to illustrate that the rockets seem to value building an enormous depth and breadth of information even if it doesn't appear to offer any immediate benefit, and that's the kind of data that enables them to make quick decisions, evaluate value, make smart trades quickly, and take advantage of arbitrage opportunities when they arise.
