Its probably Fernandez and the 22nd pick for the 14th.. with the 22nd the Rockets draft Elliot Williams
I don't think Fernandez would be happy here, he will see as much PT as he did in Portland if not less.
If we do this trade, that means we're very high on him, Adelman included. I think if Morey does this trade is because he has a good offer for K-Mart and trusts in Rudy for being the starting SG. He can, he would improve a lot in Adelman's system. Anyway, won't happen.
NO to Al Jefferson please, Elton Brand waiting to happen. Rudy Fernandez is more like JT but a better shooter.
A 14 for Rudy + 22 would be a crap deal. The report only said Toronto was giving up their first, I think Morey is trying to get Rudy on the cheap.
Toronto has the #13 and it has been reported that they wanted fernandez and #22 for it. Houston would have to do #14 for fernandez and #34 if that were the case. This would be a great move as it would give us a solid rotational player with upside (which is something that we would be targeting at the #14 level anyways) + a high second round pick in case someone slips. I've also mentioned how fernandez would be a good fit on our roster. does anyone know if he's friends with Llull?
what if this is a move for Rubio. Maybe DM and Kahn have a deal in place for Rubio and hopefully Big Al. Maybe Martin is in a deal with them after all and getting Fernandez is our replacement for Martin and a big motivational push for Rubio to come over this year cause he gets to play next to his best friend Rudy/ doesn't have to play in Minny .
If the Rockets feel a swingman at #14 isnt there that is worth Rudy, I could see them doing a Rudy+22 for #14. That could be in play. Would Whiteside, Orton or Sanders be there at #22 for the Rockets in this scenario? Would be a nice haul with Rudy plus one of those guys.
What concerns me is that, if the Rockets were offering the Blazers the #14 for Rudy, then it pretty much means that any efforts trying to pry a top 5 pick (whether it was #2 or #4) was unsuccessful since I would imagine Philly or Minny would have wanted that #14 back in return. Is Rudy worth a #14? Honestly I think he is BUT (here's the BUT) the #14 this year is worth more to Morey and the Rockets in terms of not only it being a deeper draft (i.e. a good player could fall to #14) but also because of the other assets Morey and the Rockets can package together. Using the #14 as trade bait for Rudy pretty much means that teams with a Top 5 pick aren't enamored with any package Morey is throwing at them IMO.
I honestly could see this happening (i.e. very Morey-esque). Taking Whiteside at 14 is a HUGE stretch IMO but at 22 it would be more reasonable considering we also get Rudy as well.
Priitchard trying to screw the rockets again in jumping in front of the #14 pick at Toronto's #13. There's somebody in that area these teams want and I can't figure who it can be. Man this draft can change in so many ways for the rockets if they stick around at #14.
