I dont understand comments like this...you make it seem as if the US was better off had they just lost and returned back to the states.

I have never felt that awful watching sports in such a long time. 90 minutes of pure misery. I felt like my anxiety would explode and we just kept missing breaks. And then... GOAL. I jumped on the chairs in the bar, screamed until I felt like crying and hugged many strangers. I've never released like that quite so abruptly in sports before.

Bring on Germany. We'll return the 2002 favor or prove that Serbia is way overhyped.

    0/10 troll attempt.

Seriously enough about the "horrible officials". I'm sure the Algerians will feel slighted by the referee in this match. Deal w/ it. If the US lost I wouldnt blame the linesman for putting the flag up on Dempsey because that HAPPENS IN EVERY FOOTY MATCH for club or country. Sometimes they get it right sometimes they don't. I would blame it on the profligate finishing of the US forwards and midfielders. Luckily Donovan timed his run right from midfield and finished properly.

Football/soccer has the same issue tennis had and Baseball has in that video replay needs to be incorporated into the game in some way but they need to find out how.
Unfortunately they haven't even decided on goal line technology so I wouldnt expect video replay for a while.

That's not being emotional that's just trolling a thread.

Have fun on the early flight home. I think we're going to stay a while longer.

I think Ghana will start to show up. Home field advantage...unless the pressure gets to them as it did to every other African country.

Germany without Ballak, isnt the same German team, imo

Fixed. 'Cuz you're counting GHANA out.

The way USA played in the first and last game, they shouldn't have any problem against either one of those three.

Don't let the trolls take away this thrilling victory, don't bother responding to them. Ignore the haters.

We finished at the top of our group. Who would've thunk it? The best possible result and they did it.

We're on to the next round. LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Germany is faster and more creative without Ballack.... but they are not as organized or as good on set pieces.

    Taken from GlobalPost

2010 FIFA World Cup Group D Scenarios

The simplest scenarios are that Ghana, Germany and Serbia all advance with a win. Australia must win and get help.

    Ghana advances with:
    (A) Win or tie versus Germany
    (B) Loss and Australia-Serbia tie IF Serbia does not make up tiebreakers
    (C) Loss and Australia win IF Australia does not make up tiebreakers (Australia is way behind on goal differential)

    Germany advances with:
    (A) Win versus Ghana
    (B) Tie and Serbia-Australia tie IF Serbia does not make up tiebreakers
    (C) Tie and Australia win IF Australia does not make up tiebreakers

    Serbia advances with:
    (A) Win versus Australia
    (B) Tie and Ghana win
    (C) Tie and Ghana-Germany tie AND make up tiebreakers on Germany

    Australia advances with:
    (A) Win versus Serbia and Ghana win
    (B) Win and Germany win and make up tiebreakers on Ghana
    (C) Win and Ghana-Germany tie and make up tiebreakers on Germany (not likely)

geographical knowledge has nothing to do with it.

Soccer insignificance beating a "powerhouse" like Germany does.
