Lakers were champions before PJ, and I'm sure they'll be champions after him too. Lakers are lucky.

Doug Collins is gonna shoot himself if PJ retires and he's stuck coaching the 76ers.

Prior to Jackson the Lakers last Championship was in 1988 and that was with Legendary coach Pat Riley and the Showtime Lakers. Jackson will not be as easily replaced as you're thinking.

Surely there's a struggling team somewhere that can give them another franchise player for trash.

Phil Jackson's daughter said his Lakers days are done.
Jerry Buss' daughter said his Lakers days are not done!

Seriously, I bet all my money, Phil Jackson will be back at least one more season because the champion next season is Lakers to lose and Phil knows it better than anyone else. He will stay in the Lakers as long as they are still contending for the title.

And Prior to Riley they were Champions multiple times as well. Phil Jackson is indeed the head of the snake of the current Lakers, him not being around will be a critical blow to their success.

But to say that the Lakers will never be champions again without him is to discount history.

So you're saying Lakers won't win a championship ever again after PJ is gone?

They were and they could but HOF coach's like Kundla, Auerbach, Riley and Jackson only come around once every 20-30 years. Like I said... Jackson will not easily be replaced.

He's the best coach around today, so I agree that no one will be able to fill his shoes or coach under his shadow for quite some time.

The Lakers won the title in 1980 with Paul Westhead as coach. Their two championships prior to that were in 1972 and 1954! I'm certainly hoping for another 18+ year drought. I doubt the league would allow that to happen, though.

Good. I'd rather not see his manipulative grill sitting on his high chair.

Let's just wait until PJ makes the announcement. Who cares what his daughter thinks?
