Google translate: Sergi Llull, who still had one season left on his contract, will see extended its contractual relationship with the white team for four seasons and most likely be provided with operational from the second year of contract, if it is to the NBA.
Translation: Sergio Lull is not worth it as a basketball player, truth is I dont know what is everyone's obsession on this board with they guy. If we are going to have the rights to some spaniard let's do so for Ricky Rubio whom is a thousand times the player sergio is who is also younger in age and much more talented. (translation by myself)
It says that he'll quite possibly be allowed to leave after the 2nd year for the NBA. Note that this is just from a blog. I'd say it's meaningless until we see it on some news site.
i completely agree with you ..he is completely over rated on this board when really nobody even ever saw him really play
We know from the scouting reports that he has NBA level quickness. We know from him playing against some NBA players that he can play good defense. We know from videos and that he is a European player, that he is a very good perimeter shooter. We know that he is handing himself and his duties very well on one of the top Euroleague teams, making him at least an above average guard already. We know that he can finish strong, which is ironic considering he plays in Europe. We know from his achievements this year, that he is willing and, more importantly, mentally strong enough to take big time shots and can them. Contrary to what you seem to believe, we know a lot about him and what he is capable of. How much of that translates over to the NBA would be interesting to see, but skill wise he is way better than Lowry looks to ever be.
You had me with you until you said, "but skill wise he is way better than Lowry looks to ever be." Afterthat I had to take everything you said with a grain of salt. No amount of tape could make you think he is way better than little lowry. In fact Lowry is more valuable than him right now.
Watching highlight videos and reading scouting reports means jack. Why act like an expert on his game? Yeah, I'm excited because he's a potential Rocket, but the reality is that most of us (myself included) know nothing about him.
I never said Llull was a better player. I have absolutely no doubt that Lowry is more valuable and better player in the NBA right now. Of course he is as Llull has yet to play an NBA game. What I do know is that skill wise and talent wise, Llull is much better than Lowry and how could he not? He defends well, he is fast (though not as fast), he is taller, and he can actually shoot well beyond the arc, something that Lowry may never do at a respectable percentile. His skills and talent as well as physical size can allow him to be way better than Lowry due to Lowry's limited size and skills.
Considering they are scouting reports by Rockets staff and they drafted him and are excited about him, there is a lot of validity. Besides, how can anyone not be excited about a fast and fairly big PG who can play defense, finish strong, and shoot well? Most of you get excited about a undersized shooting guard who can't pass well and a defensive point guard who has no range to speak of, so I fail to understand the hypocrisy?
Like I said earlier, I'm excited about him because he's a potential Rocket. Our team drafted him, so of course I want him to succeed. That doesn't change the fact that I've never seen him play. Bashing our current PG's won't change that either.
Who said anything about bashing then? Nothing I said was untrue. Brooks is an undersized shooting guard pretending to play point, has a very narrow court vision, and has no defensive presence to speak of. Lowry, while an able defender, bases his entire game on barreling into the paint to pick up fouls or hopefully an AND1 and has no outside shot.
Yeah, i agree. While it would be nice to see him over here, I am worried about the guys we have here. I like our PG's and hopefully we can pick up one more, but if it is not Lull, then oh well.
rockets dont need him yet... we just traded for kevin martin and we have trevor ariza, budinger at the 2. it might be actually good for him to gain more experience playing overseas rather than sit on the rockets bench.
Llull will be a very good NBA player, and right now it's safer to say that than to say that Rubio will be a star. The fact that he has been so crucial for Real Madrid this season, plus the known interest by the Rockets part to get him the next summer, has lead his club to offer him an extension in a hurry. Llull will get more money but also will be committed to staying in Madrid 1-2 years more. Still don't know how many years exactly, negotiations started 2 weeks ago when Real Madrid was eliminated of the ACB playoffs, but there's still no agreement and no official info about the new contract.
Are you the type of person who won't believe the Earth is round until you hop on a plane and circle the globe? Or that you don't believe atoms and other things that are too small to see with the naked eye?
i doubt this guy will sport a rockets uniform. maybe when hes in his late 20s or somthing, but not now. i hate i when the rockets draft international players who never sport the rockets uniform.
