Just like Oscar honors, MJ got 6 Oscar's for best leading actor(player), and Kobe got 2. Kobe got 3 as the best supporting actor(player) though(support Shaq). That should end all the attempts for comparison between Kobe and MJ.
On this board it seems like the only people who keep comparing them are the ones who don't want them to be compared.

you aint lying....i've seen like a million "he's not mj" threads, but not one about how he is...it's like they pick it up elsewhere and come here to convince us when we had nothing to do with it..
i think he won't be surpassed in terms of his impact to the game, under him it became the multi billion dollar international industry that it has today that commands so much salary and marketing money, so his off the court impact was his greatest impact in my opinion, he was an obsessive winner such as kobe but had a great public image and nike controlled that well and espn so on supported it unlike kobe because in that day and age reporting and news were just a different beast than what it is now. He was special in his ability and commitment, yet when people leave, they are glorified naturally, I wonder and somewhat doubt htat Kobe will get this treatment, bc who cares if he is 1,2, or 10 or 12, fact is he is great and his approach and dedication to the game needs to be commended regardless. Yet the people who hate him, I don't see even post career giving him his due respect. Yet with MJ even when he was at top o the league, many people hated him just because he was on the top, yet that changed when he left
So what? I don't really like Kobe but i respect him. This has gone to far. The fact is Kobe is still the one who is carrying the team. Are you expecting Kobe or MJ to win the championship with 4 kwame brown clones at the starting line-up? and another 7 helping from the bench?
Kobe has 2 rings, 2 Finals MVPs and an MVP without Shaq Shaq rode Wade to 1 ring. Shaq wouldn't play clutch minutes to close out the 4th...it would be Mourning

Is there any other player in the NBA who fans continuously try to bring down the championship rings he has? Kobe is the only player I can think of who fans bash him for his rings and makes excuses why he has those rings. They act like he did not play an important role in any of the Championships. Truth is Kobe has played an very important role in all 5 rings he has.
