I hate to always be the contrarian -- i.e., raining on the Cousins parade -- but IF we did land the #2 spot, we would be crazy to let go of Turner. If nothing else, he becomes our PG while Brooks becomes a backup PG/SG and still getting major minutes. There are back-up centers out there for us to acquire as FAs (Mihm/Fasenko) or in trades (Lowry for Foster?). Evans is a sure thing. Cousins is not. If we want to take a gamble, I'd rather pick up Alabi or even Whiteside by buying a 20-something pick. Alabi IMO will be the slowest to develop of the Cousins/Whiteside/Alabi trio, but eventually could well be the best center. Turner/Brooks/Lowry Martin/Turner-Ariza Budinger/Ariza-Turner Scola/Hill/Brand/Hayes-Andersen Yao/Backup C / Andersen-Hayes
Turner is a little overrated, his often compared to Roy, but IMO Turner is poor mans Brandon Roy. He has great handles I'll give him that, but doesn't possess a quick 1st step and has short arms(which limit him defensively). Not to mention his no where near as explosive or as strong as Brandon Roy. So people expecting him to have an Brandon Roy type of impact are in for a disappointment. "If" we were to get the 2nd overall pick I fully expect Daryl Morey to Draft Demarcus Cousins, his combination of power and finesse is extremely rear to find in a big man. Not to mention he can get to the line, which is something that Morey values. LOL at your Alabi statement, sure he could become the best center in this draft , if he could overcome his lack of cordination, and his extremely slow foot speed. As well as other things such as jumpshot, stamina, etc. --RB
Do this then turn around and trade Brooks, Hill, #14, knicks 2012...and...wait for it...Budinger for the #4. Get your hands on #2 and #4 in this draft will change the face of this team for the next decade.
while you laugh at 300K vs. 300M mix-up, you refer to the age-old term, "chump change" as chunk. Is this indicating that the money is stuck together?
A single "M" stands for thousand, "MM" stands for millions. So, 300M is $300,000. Someone went to school!
I'd start Big Al next to Yao at the 4, and Hill and Jeffries can back him up. Draft a big body to back up Yao or pick up option on Hayes to back up Yao.
why would we give 2 lottery picks and a good potential player in Hill for 1 lottery pick (not to mention higher number) and a unproven NBA player? Unproven.....
Incorrect. Go work for a bank, financial institution, or the energy industry, 200MM is 200 million. http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Is_MM_the_abbreviation_for_million
Well okay if thats what your talkinga bout. Thought you were doing roman numerals. In which I would be right
Disagree. IMO Turner will be the offensive equal and defensive superior to Brandon Roy -- and certainly will not be as fragile. He also has a PG's eye and the ability to make the right pass at the right time. If he took over as PG, Rubio would be unnecessary and we would have a lethal shooting backcourt of Turner, Martin and Budinger with Ariza backing up Martin and Budinger and Brooks backing up Turner and Martin. I look for Shane to be traded.
