http://twitter.com/SpearsNBAYahoo/statuses/16718033467 I wonder how much the cash was because in my opinion picks 31-35 are very valuable since you can get first round talent without having to be locked into a contract. not sure why the warriors would make this trade unless portland threw at them a lot of money
If you draft right you'd actually want to lock those players in with a late first round contract IMO. You gotta believe in yourself as a GM though. Nobody has those kind of balls these days.
And so it begins... by the end of the draft the Blazers will have traded 5 times and acquired half the picks in the draft.
A 2nd round contract also allows you the flexibility to pay a higher salary, which is good for foreign players that are already getting paid more than late 1st round salary. For example, Scola made over $3 mil in the last season. If he was a late 1st round pick, it would have been hard for him to afford the buyout and a lower salary. A late 1st round pick would make less than $900k/yr. http://www.mynbadraft.com/NBA-Rookie-Salary-Scale-2007
Will be so happy once Pritchard gets thrown out of Portland and he no longer gets to just buy half the picks in the draft, have some hit, and then have everyone praise his genius.
what does trading picks in the draft have to do with bosh? houston wasnt involved in this nor was toronto. man how people bring up bosh randomely these days
