The salary for the 15th pick is almost 1.4m and taylor/bud signed for 800k. In morey's eyes, 600k is alot of money. Thats what I mean by double, not pying more than double for the pick. Dumars just wanted to sell the pick so he could have the extra 1.4m, but because it wasn't viewed as a strong, tide turning prospects draft, he just went ahead and drafted prince's clone in daye.

Anyone who knows BBall in the NBA knows already that 3 million is the most cash that can be thrown into a deal to sweeten it. You actually can't buy most players.

Different time, and players. Pure athleticism alone doesn't always work out. I must admit I haven't seen a great deal of Favors, but I think that Cousins has some skills that will transfer nicely to the pro's. And I've also seen at least a couple of sources stating that on pure talent alone Cousins is in the top 2 of the draft.

And we wouldn't be dealing with both teams since they both want Turner. Minny would have no reason to trade from 4 to 3 with Turner gone. We would end up with Favors if we traded down from 2 to 4, and NJ took Cousins instead of Favors, leaving DF for us.

What it boils down to is that I'm wondering if Morey could only get one of Rubio, or Cousins which he would choose.

I want to see Rubio and Favors on the same team and if that's something that DM is trying to do then I think they would have to work with Philly too if they were to chose Favors over Cousins with the 3rd pick.

I'd love if the rockets made a deal for iguodala.. We need a scoring sf without an ego that can play next to martin, brooks and yao and just be a super efficient ariza. Hes young(25), super athletic, a super upgrade over ariza and hes only missed 6 games his entire career. If the sixers are willing to give up turner for taking Brand, why wouldnt we just match salaries and take iggy from them so they can draft turner and truly start rebuiling ala thunder/grizzlies...

something like the proposed trade plus battier(expiring) or ariza(still young), or maybe lowry(from philly), maybe along with cbud or jhill to get it done.
    Possible lineup
brooks/lowry or drafted player(in case we have to trade him)
    kmart/ cbud
    iggy/ battier or ariza
    scola/ brand
    yao/ hill

    just fun to expirament

Not sure why Morey would pull the trigger on this trade if he really wants to bring Bosh to Houston unless he thinks he can use Brand in a SnT to acquire Bosh but why wouldn't Philly do that deal with Toronto if it's available.

Do we want to carry the contracts of Yao, Brand, Iggy, Martin, Brooks (big raise next year), and Scola/Lowry (decent raise this year) all at the same time?

It's not far off, as rumors go, from the #2 + Brand rumblings have been.

I think we might do a S&T with Scola. With Brand and Hill on board plus maybe Cousins we are pretty well fixed for PF's. All 3 can fill in at the 5 also so we would have a very flexible front court. Scola may be the logical one to go (I like him) because he is not going to be the big scorer and rebounder with Yao back in the middle. Remember when he just took over the Argentine national team, but when everyone got back he went back to his normal role on the team. IMO he will do the same thing now so theoretically we should trade him now at his apex instead of nearly giving away our young players. If we can swing Rubio out of this deal then this will be a banner draft year in Rocket history. I saw the video and although they were highlights he is mighty good. I cannot watch him without thinking Pistol Pete Maravitch. Besides looking like him he drives like him and even better distributes like him. If he doesn't turn to be a great downtown shooter he should still make this team a lot better alley-ooping to Hill, Yao, Cousins and Brand. That would be a fun team to watch.

BTW Brand and Scola are just about the same age also.

    What if............................

    Morey knows that.............

    Minny covets Turner badly and..................
    Toronto covets Cousins badly and...........
Bosh wants to come to Houston??

Of course, if the deal is #2 and Brand, then Toronto could swing that trade themselves, but....Bosh doesn't want to go to Philly...so they can't do it..without us.

So we take Brand and Turner for expirings and #14.
We send Turner and Knicks 2012 to Minny for #4 (Cousins) and rights to Rubio
Then we send Brand, and Cousins to Toronto for Bosh.

We get Bosh, rights to Rubio.

True but you have to look at how badly the Sixers wanna move Brand's contract off the books.

Apparently Morey either, thinks he can do something with it by getting it off thru another trade or thinks Brand will actually help us long term (even at his age) without the uptempo run and gun foot on the pedal ALL game Philly game. We will play that when the opportunity comes now that Yao is returning, we can slow it down and play half court again.

Either way I like the deal, like you said we don't give up much talent BUT when you're as desperate as the 76ers maybe this is something that can get you on the right track.

I'd love E.T. on this team.
