I am not wilde about throwing money around at everyone. If our players will JUST IMPROVE. Scola - time to get with Hakeem. Everyone else is why not Scola? If his jumper become more consistant . .. I am good with Scola [Heck Landry's shot became better over a summer .. . . Scola's can too] Yao - Just get better Lowry - Improve his shooting and I think we are good. AB - passing. Dunno what he can do to improve his defense. Maybe learn to play the passing lanes more. With Yao back . . he and Lowry can take a few more chances Jordan Hill - See Scola - See Landry - Be Scola Be Landry With more UP SIDE I just wanna see that our guys have worked on their games and improved! I dunno if this is happeneing [Any one got any information?] Rocket River
Agreed I think we almost underrate our own roster when we look at other teams... Aaron Brooks and Kevin Martin at there best could be the most lethal scoring backcourt we have seen in decades. If Trevor Ariza can up his shooting percentage to 43-45%, we have a STEAL on our hands. I have a REALLY good feeling that Jordan Hill and Chase Budinger are going to have HUGE years for us. Maybe Kyle Lowry has finally added a 3-pointer to his game? I am extremely confident in our Rockets this year, and I think we are actually underrating our development team when we say they will for certain NOT be contending. I think they just might me, Bosh or not...
So i guess westbrook and durant wont get any better. What about roy, aldridge, bayless, and fernandez? Carmello? Its not just the sake of getting better because everyone's else players will get better.
Seriously Mothra??? Is that what you got out of the post? Anyway - They can all improve like Landry did. Work on their games. Rocket River Amazing thing is. . people don't have to Suck to improve.
I think he was making the point that Rox players have to get better just to keep their heads above water with the rest of the league. This thread suggests that our players can improve while everyone else stays the same.
Because Scola's game is not based on athleticism like 'everyone else'. Perhaps Scola could pick up the dream shake, but I can't see him being able to do much with the rest of Hakeem's arsenal. And not looking at stats, I didn't think his jumper was a problem last year. The whole point is to hit it consistently enough to draw a defender out of the paint, and I think he does that well enough. Defensively, it'd be nice he improved his one one one game, but he just doesn't have the foot speed. It's not going to happen.
While a big new addition would seal the deal and make us a for sure contender, I do think we can contend this year with the current line-up, specially when you factor in Yao and a new draft pick. Also think we should sign a decent big man to back-up Yao. After that I think we have an extremely talented and strong team.
i agree with the OP - i think this team can surprise people if our younger players continue to grow in skill AND confidence. i think our chances to contend with the current roster will hinge on jordan hill's ability to be a starter-quality big man.
If the Rockets stand pat, and Chase and Hill continue to improve, Morey would be in a stronger position at the trade deadline. .
Internal growth on both ends is critical, however at the same time we can't stand pat either. We need more talent and toughness.
No doubt. However, I see room for improvement with our players I am not going to mope around and cry in my beer if Bosh or Amare or Boozer are not signed. If Morey gets two good picks in the draft and everyone comes back healthy The Rockets should still be a LOCK for top 5 in the West Rocket River
