    lol, 8 songs?

Including encore? Or was there no encore?

A normal, multi album band set is about 12 songs, but doesn't Tool have longer tracks itself.

I saw Tool 2-3 years back at the Woodlands and it was, far and away, the worst concert I've ever been to.

    List of complaints:
    - Annoying recorded woman saying over and over about how if anyone moshed they'd be thrown out, and you could actually hear how agitated she was....like some young girl not getting her way about something.
    - They shut down the beer sales as soon as Tool went on.
    - They shut down the tshirt/poster sales as soon as Tool went on.
*- Maynard was sick, and kept leaving the stage, presumably to puke. I've got all kinds of respect for "the show must go on" mentality, but if you're too ill to perform, pack it up and reschedule the damn show or refund the money of the people who actually shelled out their hard-earned cash to see you and your band, you arrogant idiot.
    - The volume was ridiculously low. We were at the closest edge of the grass/general admission area and able to talk at a normal volume, where we were mostly complaining about how AWFUL of an experience we were having. The audience in the seated areas singing along quite literally nearly drowned out the band.

F**k Tool. They'll never get any more money from me.

*- I saw Metallica in Dallas at Texas Stadium in 2000 for the Summer Sanitarium tour. James Hetfield threw his back out and couldn't perform, but the show went on with Jason Newstead and the lead singers from the other bands fronting Metallica. It was one of the best concerts I've ever been to. But then, Metallica told everyone to keep their ticket stubs and they would return for a free concert so that the paying public could see Metallica as a full band. I went to this as well and it was also a great show. Bottom line: despite some douchy moves and bad albums from them, I will ALWAYS respect Metallica.

I'm sorry your experience sucked, but I'm sure as hell glad I turned down the chance to go tonight. I learned my lesson the first time.

You are doing it all wrong, bro. Hipster Kitty would not approve of Passion Pit. They play that stuff on MTV U. I don't want to be hanging around some mainstream bro's, wearing khaki shorts with a button down Oxford, drinking Miller Lite, singing Sleepyhead since that is the only track they know while attending the concert. Got to have standards man. Got to know the scene to make fun of the scene.

i understand what your saying. but... ive seen tool three times and they are among some of the Very best shows i have ever been to. and i have seen a LOT of shows of all very different types of music.

now granted those shows were in the years of 1993-1999. im not giving them an excuse but things usually change for a band after time. not saying i wouldnt take a free ticket on a night i didnt have anything to do and not go. but i would not put any effort into seening them anymore. i just have less interest generally seeing a band that the members are in there 40s and have played thousands of shows and played the same songs millions of times. again not giving an excuse but those "bands" are probably not going to be giving it there all to every show night in and night out anymore. probably doing it for the money at that point.

That sucks. I love Tool (more specifically, Danny Carey) but I'll never understand why bands feel the need to treat their own fans with such contempt. Makes no sense. I've heard similar stories to yours about their concerts. Shutting down the beer stands? WTF??

Makes me appreciate bands like Rush even more. Can't wait to see them in September.

I was at that show a few years back when Maynard was sick. It was a terrible performance. Essentially, just an audience sing along. They should have given refunds. I did see them in 2001 with Tricky on the Lateralas tour and it was mind blowing. Saw them last night and got my money's worth.

I thought the show last night was much better then the one where he was sick at the Woodlands. Maynard had a lot more energy and the visuals were spectacular. Tool played for about an hour and fifteen minutes, but I was disappointed that there was not an encore.

freaking maynard doesn't even come on the stage. Dude was in the back the whole time.

And half way through lateralus, his mic stopped working and they just sang like the last 30 secs of the song.

I can understand he doesn't like being out, but I don't wanna see only a bassist and guitarist on center stage.

Dude just walked off like he didn't even give a ****, no good bye or anything after he was done. It took everyone a while to realize they were done.

He is such an amazing singer and they are such a good band, i just don't understand the arrogance as a previous poster pointed out.

I paid GOOD money for those tix at the tc

    They always play Stinkfist.

I'm one of the biggest Tool fans you will ever know, but after reading reviews of the very few shows before this one I was on the fence to attend, as I've seen them over 10 times already. Too many songs I heard 2 or 3 years ago, short set list, tickets waaaay too expensive, no new material, the beer line shutting down as soon as they start, etc.

I LOVE Tool, I LOVE seeing Dana rip on the drums, but their concerts are more for eye visuals now. I can sit in my room, play one of their albums and watch those trippy effects on Media Player and it's almost like being there. It doesn't seem Maynard has the energy anymore, seems bored most of the time.

8 songs is just pathetic and rips off the fans. I really wish A Perfect Circle would reunite and tour.

EDIT- You got me thinking so I went to ToolShed and EVERYONE there disagrees and thinks this is the BEST shows in Houston since the 90's. He FINALLY wasn't sick like in '06 and '02.

    Setlist:11 friggin' songs!

    Third Eye
    Jambi
    Stinkfist
    Vicarious
    Eon Blue Apocalypse
    The Patient
    Intolerance
    Schism
    46&2
    Lateralus
    Aenema

NOW I am pissed. That is a freaking amazing setlist. I was there in '02 and didn't get to hear the Patient as that's when he walked off stage. That's easily a close to 2 hour concert. Now I'm pissed.

Speaking of A Perfect Circle, I just read this last week. Really hoping something comes out of it. We really need a new APC album/tour! http://www.antiquiet.com/news/2010/06/a-perfect-circle-reunion/

Whoa, I finally found Skwerl in the comments section, the guy who ran the APC forum. I haven't seen him since the site went down in '05.

The place was monster rad. All kinds of bootlegs, videos, shows, and and AWESOME and hilarious forum. Thanks for that, bro!!!

    Damnit.

its was an 1:30 min, and it only felt like 8. most of it was just ambient music, other than aenema and lateralus they didn't sound too great. I had a blast though. Was worth the money I paid I guess.

Oh and APC isn't coming back. Maynard already stated he has too much **** to do, and for the record APC > TOOL

I've been a follower of Maynard for over 20 years. He likes to play with words, media, fans. I take anything he says with a grain of salt. He said a few years ago he was retiring after the '06 10,000 Days tour to concentrate on his vineyards, yet here he is still jamming in 2010.

BTW- Was this your first Tool concert? Kinda sounds like it. They play a lot of intro into songs, they don't just start jamming and continue. They're the only band I've seen live that even had an intermission.
