Steve Kerr willl be back next year, maybe he can sign with ABC and replace Mark Jackson, but hell probaly be back with Turner.
Yea I agree with that, the half time show is terrible with Stuart Scott. Kenny Charles Ernie thats just a great cast. doug collins rides kobe a little too much; but I love Kevin Harlan.
I'm not ashamed to say I love Doris Burke, as a sideline reporter and a commentator. She is a consumate professional, and unlike most female sideline reporters, she knows more about basketball then most of the men she works with. She should replace Mark Jackson.
Mark Jackson is REALLY irritating. Breen and JVG carrying the games by themselves without Mark Jackson would be addition by subtraction.
Agreed. I just don't see how he can ever be a head coach the way he continually rubs people the wrong way with his ******* demeanor.
the NBA on CBS was by far the best. Dick Stockton calls a great game and the coverage was pure basketball, devoid of all these bs marketing sponsorships and empty player hype (how will kobe's legacy stand in history? ). the NBA on NBC was definitely a step below, but still better than what we have today. at least they had the best intro promo's for the games. and ahmad rashad basically only had the halftime segments, so you could just take a break during that time to avoid it and then get back for the 3rd quarter. the NBA on TNT was pretty good 15 years ago.....Dick Versace was comedy! the NBA on ABC is a square peg in a round hole. it's like a disinterested stepaunt taking out 3 minutes of time between her tanning session & bleach-blonde highlighting to pay the minimum attention to the little b*stard orphan she doesn't really give a damn about. their coverage could not be any more disaffected or bland.
NBC certainly had the best intro ever, awesome theme song and announcer, always got me pumped. <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/UooitEU6AtE&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/UooitEU6AtE&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object> The intros today are just uninspired.
My problems with ABC are: 1) The music. If they're not using some lame pop song, it's that little funk tune during cuts to break and highlights. It's not a bad theme at all, it's just not exciting or dramatic. 2) Stuart Scott. He's just annoying. And when he does that little thing where he's like "Oh, some guy by the name of...Michael Jordan. Ever heard of him?" I wanna barf 3) Magic Johnson. I like him, but he is a chemistry killer on any set. 4) They don't do enough to promote it and they certainly don't show enough regular season games. What I like about ABC 1) Production values. Graphics, pre-game video, sets, feeds, they're all top notch. 2) Commentating crew. I've actually come to like Mark Jackson alright, especially once I stopped getting annoyed at "mama there goes that man" and just started feeling sorry for him instead. Breen, on the other hand, needs to lay off the "BANG!" a little bit. JVG is always good. 3) Wilbon and Jon Barry are good in the halftime show. They'd both be even better if they could loosen things up a bit. All in all I'm okay with it. TNT will always be better as long as they have the inside the NBA guys.
They just need to get charles, kenny, and ernie for the studio show. Even if the game sucks at least you have them. I never watch the abc/espn halftime, but always catch the tnt one.
I can’t stand Mark Jackson during the game broadcasts. The pregame show for ABC is terrible. Stuart Scott thinks he is “cool”. Mike Wilbon brings little to the table and just rides Magic Johnson. Jon Barry is okay but I like Brent Barry a lot better. He is more natural on TV. Magic can’t speak English. ABC/ESPN has all the resources in the world and I don’t understand why they can’t go after better people. Heck, Turner’s second team is better than the ABC crew IMO. Brent Barry and Kevin McHale are pretty solid. I think guys like Paul Shirley and Scott Pollard could be good analysts if they want. Just because you are good player doesn’t mean you are a good announcer. Just ask Emmitt Smith.
Whenever the game is abc, I use the SAP feature on my remote for spanish commentary. I'd rather understand very little of what the commentators are saying then listen to JVG and Mark Jackson.
Well the ABC studio show is straight teleprompter. Scott is reading from a script the entire time, Obama style, whereas Ernie Johnson is actually having a conversation with Kenny and Charles, like three guys at home talking about the game. On the other hand, NBATV has tried to copy the TNT format and it's awful, you need people who can carry on an intelligent conversation. Eric Snow has the personality and insight of a potted plant, and Dennis Scott has nothing to offer.
actually he doesnt try to be he just is, my fave announcers are JVG and Kevin McHale.. of course Bill Worrell is the best tho
