First and foremost, I wanted to vomit when watching the lakers win. Now that I got that out of my system, here is my arguement for why MJ is better now and always will be. Almost every team that has a won a championship, had a dominant inside presence. Starting with russell and chamberlin to now gasol. Every team in my recent memory and in every season I have seen, there has a been a dominant low post presense. EXCEPT the anomaly. Michael Jordan had luc longley, and some other douches. He put forth a dynasty without a big presense in the middle. AND he did it in arguably the greatest time frame for NBA low post players. (ewing, robinson, malone, Dream, even shaq) Kobe tried to do it without a low post presense, but he failed miserably and cried and wanted out, untill the grizzlies gave (err, traded) gasol to the lakers. Anyone disagree?
That some other douche MJ played with is someone named Scott Pippen who's one of the greatest perimeter defenders in the history of the league and is one of the 50 greatest players of all time. Quit hating
Anyone that has seen both play knows that there is no comparison between the two players. Kobe could win 20 more rings and I would strongly disagree that he was in the same class as Jordan. Most of of these "comparisons" come from the younger crowd that never watched Jordan... I never thought I would see the day when Jordan was actually underrated...
I am not hating on Kobe, so all you kobe lovers, dont start that crap. I dont hate the lakers because of kobe, they have an abundant supply of douches on that team. And yes, pippen was a good player. But he is by no means a low post presense.
LOL. The funny thing is almost everyone who likes Kobe thinks Jordan is better. It's just the Kobe bashing that's getting old. He's going to go down as one of the top 10, maybe top 5, players of all-time.
free country. i can reply if i want to despite thinking that a thread is unnecessary especially when there is ANOTHER thread discussing this exact subject where you opinion could have been sated.
MR. SPACE CITY, I demand your clutchfans.net police badge number. I will be lodging a formal complaint with your supervisors for harrassment.
actually, if you listen to many former players/coaches/analysts, who are older than most of us on this board, they're the ones making these comparisons. so i don't agree that it's just the younger crowd. Also, with the OP's logic, rip hamilton was also better than Kobe because the Pistons had no DOMINANT inside presence when they won a championship. with that being said, Jordan was better than Kobe. I think most of the people making these comparisons here seem to be Kobe haters arguing that Kobe ISNT better, not Kobe lovers arguing that he's better than MJ
I wouldnt exactly call rasheed wallace back then no low post presense. As he displayed last night, he had a real nice low post game when he wanted to.
so what if he's not a low post presence? whats the big deal? Pippen is still one of the all time greats he does a lot more than provide post presence
