You may think that foul on Allen was cheap but Kobe rose up at the perfect time to make Allen's arm's swipe across his. That's a foul. Ridiculous for you to be whining about it. As for the Artest foul I would've rather seen it be a no-call, but it wasn't anything out of the ordinary.
The Celtics didn't do themselves any favors by not shooting well in the 4th quarter, but you knew the game was going to get a third player after the 3 point attempt by Kobe where he jumped INTO Ray Allen, and the flopping of Pau Gasol. It is a shame that the Referees tend to favor the aggressive team, but that is the unfortunate reality of the NBA game, and most basketball in general. I just wish it was more consistent. These are supposed to be professionals.
oh all of you shut up. the lakers missed almost half the freethrows, thats about 15 points, if they had made all of those it would have been a blowout, the c's had all the chances in the world to catch up. so shut up now, and hail kobe again, whether you like it or not till next year. the lakers just outplayed them at the end, when it mattered.
Gasol, Odom, and Bynum consistently push the opponent in the back as he jumps for a rebound, and they rarely get called for it. I believe this is ordered by PJ.
Yes, this game was clearly not called fair for the Celtics in the 4th quarter. The Lakers got every single call they wanted down the stretch. Tim Donaghy was very proud of Joey Crawford's performance tonight.
OF COURSE HE RIGGED THE GAME FOR LA...THE MOST QUESTIONABLE REFEREE IN FOR THE MOST IMPORTANT GAME OF THE YEAR.GET REAL... STERN STRIKES AGAIN.......AND AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN.
Since time immemorial, when you pump fake a man into the air on a jump shot then have him crash into you as you go up - no matter which direction you jump, be it into him or not - it has always, always, always been a foul on the defender. That's the way the rule has been interpreted since Kobe, Jordan, Magic, Bird, etc.... The fact that people now think it's not kind of crystallizes the silliness of htis thread.
Let's be honest here though. Gasol CAME DOWN OFF THAT JUMPER THAT PUT THEM UP BY 5 AT THE END OF THE GAME. It should have been called a travel violation. Rasheed then came down and hit that HUGE 3..or was it Ray Allen. I cant exactly remember but at one point if they would have called the travel, and then the 3, the game would have been tied with something around 24-26 seconds left? The Celtics got screwed by that, you can only wonder what would have happened with a tied game at that point.... So hard to call bc it was so close with Gasol's feet, but jeeze... what if!
Why the fck didn't they review it? I thought you can review a play when it's the last 2 minutes of a game. That's a frickin 5 points swing in a game that ended with a difference of 4.
Funny how you bandwagon celts fans are quiet about the fact that Boston uses moving screens the entire game and didn't get called for it. And no, I'm not a Lakers fan, I was rooting for Boston to win though in the end I don't care. The calls were bad both ways (or lack of calls). The refs didn't win game 7, Boston LOST game 7 by running out of gas halfway through the third
Stop blaming the officials for the loss of Celtics. LA wanted it more and they got it. Boston had a chance to close out but they choked. Celtics have no one to blame but themselves. Plus those two foul calls wasn't that bad. Kobe did got foul and so did Artest. Gasol indeed traveled but it was still an amazing shot. At the end, LA wanted it more and they never collapsed like Boston did.
Why does most people here always talk about the What ifs... So what if Gasol foot touch the ground before he released it. It was still an amazing shot. You can't blame the refs for the outcome of the game. If Boston was really going to win that game, they would of won. But they started choking down the line when it matter most. The refs didn't have anything to do with Boston losing or LA winning. It was more of who wants it most and so LA wanted it more so they kept fighting even when they're down and won. At the end of the day, What If doesn't changed the fact that Lakers is a champion and Boston lost an heart breaking one.
So i guess if they miss that call... and it didint matter, kobe could walk all over the court and not get called for it? a travel is a travel... a foul is a foul... i know it was close and it was a nice double pump fake shot... BUT IT WAS A TRAVEL... it DIRECTLY changed the outcome of that game. Im not talking about any other call or non call in the game. Im talking about with a little less then a minute left, the refs BLEW that call. Thats all i am saying. There are TONS of what if moments in that game, but that shouldnt have been a what if moment, it should have been called up and down on gasol.
That sounds like a personal problem if anyone thinks the refs handed the Lakers the game; quite frankly, I think it's just an excuse.......
