We're looking to upgrade the phone system in our office, but I have no idea who to call about that. It's not something you do very often. Any suggestions? BTW, is this the most boring thread ever on Clutch Fans? Discuss.
Cisco set up our new office phones and while we don't use all the functionality, if we did they would be bad ass. These guys sell them: http://www.houstonvoip.net/
I have a personal friend that does this for a living (owns his own business as well as doing it professionally for a large company) great people (one of the best people I know), great at what they do (I have used them professionally), and local. Will send you a message.
Yes, this is easily the most boring subject I've ever seen here. But, I do have an opinion. At my previous employment, they were using these Siemens phones that were great. At my current company, they use Nortel and they suck ass. I can't manage to look up anyone's extension on the phone, and the voice navigation drives me crazy. They have non-intuitive controls and the computer-voice takes forever to list them. When you dial-in (with a ridiculously long 6-number pin, but that might have been my company's choice) to voicemail, it tells you the first call's time, the extension, and what-have-you, and then doesn't autoplay -- it says press 2 to hear it. Everytime I get to the end and realize it won't autoplay, it pisses me off. And, to delete voice-mail, dial 7-6. 7-6, seriously?
you're not accepting messages here, so send me one and I'll reply with the information if you want it.
Nortel phones work great and have alot of features You just have to either have someone who can program the system or use a company like Blackbox to maintain it
