I figure Perk will play five minute of "Willis Reed" ball to inspire his teammates and maybe get the refs on the C's side a bit. Obviously he's not going to contribute much on a sprained knee. If Sheed can avoid foul trouble he can more than make up for it. Also, expect the C's starters to play most of the game instead of their usual 30-35mpg. Remember, Perk only played 13min in game 6 in 2008 and the C's didn't seem to have too much trouble winning that one.
Dude do you understand how ridiculously hot it gets in Southern California around this time of the year? Imagine standing under the heat with no bottles allowed and 100s of people surrounding you right outside the vicinity of the gates. People know all this and come anyways. You're sounding ignorant
The Free throw percentage is crazy. Why is so bad from the line? Its not BIG HANDS like shaq. Lack of concentration? Rocket River
I agree to a certain extent. But you see football refs a lot too, and they actually have a microphone to announce to the crowd what the call is and the camera zooming in on them. But we never really think like we do in NBA, "Gee, today's game is gonna be reffed by ____ and it's gonna be interesting how the game will turn out." You see, if the name of a ref is part of the consideration how a game will turn out, something is wrong.
Dude, I live in in So Cal and it's not "ridiculously hot" at any time of the year. It is 72 degrees right now. People in so cal will use any excuse to get drunk and party. This is the culture here.
It only gets hot inland. It's not that hot in downtown LA where all these events occur. If it's above 85 downtown, that's really hot already. The triple digits are all in the Inland Empire and in the desert. I lived in Southern California for awhile and I saw more Lakers fans in the spring of '08 than I did in the previous 3-4 years combined. Bandwagon Lakers fans are a fact of life in SoCal.
I respect Perkins for keeping his cool during these finals. Whether the Celtics win or lose, even if you are not a fan, no one expected them to make it here to the finals. They were considered old, washed up, but they sure proved people wrong by beating the Hear, Cavs and Magic. I have to say thanks for making this post season so entertaining even without the Rockets.
i was semi-wrong--i thought he tore his ACL and MCL when I saw it happen. oh well, i'm sure they pretty much knew at the end of the game. Gasol didn't dominate all that much more without Perkins than he did with
QFT. We got non-mexicans celebrating Cinco De Mayo for christ sakes. Not complaining though, I love it here in socal.
Unfortunately, I'm gonna have to go with the Lakers in game 7. Hope I'm wrong. Losing Perkins hurts. Wallace is a wildcard. Never know what you'll get with him and that back could be worrisome. Davis is a nice bench player; will he produce if given more minutes? Not sure if he will or can. Guess we'll find out tomorrow. Obviously the Big 4 need to show up. If they can get anything out of their bench, that is a bonus. Like I said, I'll unfortunately have to go with the Lakers.
Davis was pretty amazing when he played big minutes in the '09 playoffs in place of KG. But Sheed is the key. If he can play 30min on his bad back and penchant for fouls, he's even better than Perk.
