No kidding. Those other tailbacks should get their transfer papers in order pretty soon.

Clarett looks damn good - but I'd really like to see him playing a defense that isn't so . . . . Mackovickian.

If now for that offsides Wisconsin loses, no doubt. Granted there was time left but Fresno State was giving them fits! Oh well.

OSU has depth at running back like Texas has at receiver. The 1998 high school Heisman winner, Sammy Maldonado, already transferred this off-season, and they've got another freshman tailback named Ja Ja Riley, who you'll get a look at in a couple years when he transfers out to the Pac-10.

DAMNIT! ISU ends the game down by 7, 1 yard away from a game-tying TD against Florida State. :(

PHEW! Go Noles!

The defense just wasn't there after the 1st quarter. FSU got up big (31-7) and basically cashed it in the rest of the night. Save for a few key plays, the defense absolutely wasn't there. Well, that and the fact that Talman Gardner couldn't catch anything thrown to him - two passes for TDs dropped because he couldn't hold onto the ball.

And one game way too close for comfort.

Florida State sure did not look like a #3 team to me.

If they don't get their defense straightened out, it could get ugly at Miami in October....

That's why it's in October and not September :)

The offense was there, sans Gardner making catches. The defense, except for the first quarter, wasn't there except in occasional spurts. That doesn't bode well unless it can get straightened out...but I think it can.

However, without the injuries from last year to contend with, added depth on the defensive side of the ball, and (in another game) the return on starter Jeff Womble to the D-line, the defense should start to take hold.

Let's just say I'm glad FSU plays Virginia next and margin of victory is no longer in the BCS, though. This was a tough game to watch.

Remember also that ISU is a pretty damn good team. Certainly not top-10 caliber, but in another conference, they could be a top-25 type team this year. Seneca Wallace is an awesome runner AND passer. Unfortunately for them, they have to play five top-ten teams this year.

Seneca Wallace is damn good.

ISU's defense is a bunch of small guys, who aren't particularly fast, but make up for that by being mediocre-at-best tacklers. When they play a team that doesn't make first game errors - they're going to get lit up.

Also - Tech needs to Fire Mike Leach. His "Running Game and Defense? We don't need no Running Game and Defense" style of game is going nowhere, fast.

Major,

I understand that ISU is decent but FSU is ranked as the #3 team in the nation and the Cyclones are not ranked.

The Sporting News magazine that I have acts like FSU will be right there in the running for the National Championship. There is no doubt that they have some talent...all Bowden teams have that. However, it just seems like to me that the Seminole "mystique" is gone. No one is afraid of them anymore like they might have been in the past. I just know that I was surprised that ISU came back on FSU considering how "good" the Noles were supposed to be.

Wallace impressed me but he was too indecisive on that last play. I wished that they had called a different play like a rollout instead of an option.

dang it, i made the wrong choice...

i chose to watch the NEB-ASU game with the FLA ST-ISU game in PIP, but after a few minutes, the PIP was getting in the way of the action, so I had to choose... well, i wanted to scout the NEB team for TEX, plus with that lousy O-line, it looked like Lord was gonna run himself to injury and ASU could upset... so i chose the NEB game... well, the second half was an implosion by ASU and after the game, I found out that the FLA ST game was much better... :( doh!

well at least i got to see that amazing freshman RB at Ohio St. run rampant over Tech earlier in the afternoon!

OSU played a great game! Found out the Bucks had a little incentive. Guess the TT players got quoted in the papers as saying they (OSU) doesn't have any Eddie George's or Andy Katzenmoyers on the team and that OSU would be a mediocure Big 12 team. Guess if you're going to talk the talk you better be able to walk the walk.
Clarett is the real deal! Guy is freaking amazing!

Also what's up with all the TT fans who wear the cowboy hats, cut off jeans and boots? Oh well gave us all something to laugh about.

Well, Texas Tech would be a good judge of what makes a mediocre Big 12 team, all right. But they were sure wrong about it in this case.
